There's a scene in Monsters Inc. that pays homage to this cartoon. It's interesting to see the similarities.

probably my favorite era of animation. so clean, fluid and rich. these animators were the firsts, certainly the lead animators, masters. beats the static and plastic 3d feel sometimes. this is just drawings moving, almost otherwordly, as if you're peeking in to this rich story that's happening in some plausible imaginary universe, liek a dream. the suspension of disbelief is heavy in the characters, or maybe I just watched too much as a kid.

OMG, the fat dog's face reminds me of the "town crier" from the HBO Rome series... esp. v. early in the cartoon, afterwards it's less noticeable. Anyway, *vintage awesome. I love the abs. arbirtrary add of the cat-shaped cookie. Who would make one like that?
