Fartein Valen: Ave Maria

This is strictly an audiosift, but I had no other way of sharing this wonderful piece of music. The twists and turns always takes you in a direction you didn't think you were headed. Fartein Valen (1887-1952) is Norway's most well-known composer of twelve-tone and dissonant polyphonic music, whose music deserves a broader audience.

Performed by Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Siri Torjesen, soprano.
