Explain blockchain to me like a I'm a 5 yr old grad student

Well, it's more like "Explain Blockchain to me at five different levels: 5 yr old, high schooler, college student, grad student---and then---expert.

So...for whatever it's worth.

Engineering may not be appropriate here but it sort of feels like it is (I got all the parts of the 5 year old's understanding!)

At a meta-level; it's hard for me to explain something at 5 different levels of sophistication, so that was sort of cool to watch.
