Baerasays...Uhm, don't house pets do this?
shuacsays...More likely than not, house pets are begging for treats. This animal is in the wild and taught itself (probably) how to do this as a hunting aid. I'll bet it helps her a lot too.
If a house cat did this where there were no treats involved...say...trying to see over a shrubbery (ni!) then I'd say you've got a point.
2pornot2psays...Maybe he's like those wild dolphins (never been in captivity) that are tail-walking (a trick only done in captivity).

ElJardinerosays...Lots of cats stand on their back feet, doing all sorts of things, not just "begging for treats". Have you never been to teh interwebs?
