This video explains how Muslims pray - what they say and do during prayer. Establishing prayer (salaat) is the second pillar of Islam. Muslims must pray five times a day at fixed times: Fajr - after dawn but before sunrise; Dhuhr - when the sun begins to decline after high noon; Asr - when the sun is about midcourse on its way to setting; Maghrib - just after sunset; 'Ishaa - when the red glow of the sun in the west dissapears up until midnight. In addition to these five compulsory prayers there are two optional prayers: Lail - after midnight and after being replenished by sleep, but before dawn; Dzuha - around breakfast time. There are also specific prayers for special occasions - such as Ramadan and Eid.
Each prayer is made up of a number of compulsory (fard) units of prayer (rak'as) preferably said in congregation - Fajr 2, Dhuhr 4, Asr 4, Maghrib 3, 'Ishaa 4. This video explain the Fajr (morning) prayer. It explains how to pray according to the Sunni school of Imam Hanifa - about 49% of all Sunni Muslims. There are minor variations between the four Sunni schools, and the Shi'a also pray in a different manner.
