Driver gets into argument with cop -- gets arrested

FYI: The cop was definitely not in the wrong here.

The officer was wrong when he got into this argument with the guy.

The officer was wrong when he said he would physically take the Drivers License away.

The perp was wrong all the way.

Officers are always wrong until the prove to me that they aren't.

I always assume that every officer of the law is out to take my rights, its safer to deal with them in this way. In that you are well aware of your rights.

^Yeah, good point. The argument and threat were uncalled for, but overall the cop definitely doesn't deserve a suspension or anything -- just a reminder of what he can and cannot say or do.

That cop was WAY out of control, excessive force and threats, and failure to provide a business card; that poor citizen should sue the department, the officer, the county, and the state for mental anguish and/or lost wages...

The suspect was a straight-up, arbitrary asshole, not to mention likely high on something. The officer informed the suspect of why he was being pulled over and further stated that proof of his identification as an officer of the law would be provided. Case closed.

(FYI, when you're pulled over, you are technically "under arrest").

No one likes being pulled over and many cops are jerks, but considering how many idiots and lowlifes they have to put up with, they're more than decent 99% of the time.

Simple courtesy and respect will save you a whole lot of trouble versus starting with, "I KNOW MY RIGHTS!"
