for anyone who hasn't seen dogma, here's the lowdown:
Bartleby (Ben Affleck) and Loki (Matt Damon) are two angels (Loki was the angel of death in egypt) who were both kicked out of heaven after deciding they no longer wanted to kill innocent people in the name of God. God banished them to wisconsin until the end of time, and when that comes, they have to sit outside the gates of heaven for all eternity. HOWEVER, they recently found a loophole, where a church in new jersey is having a promotion that anyone who walks through the archway of the church is immediately forgiven their sins. it dawns on them that if they walk through the archway, then get killed (after an angel cuts off it's wings, it becomes human), they would immediately return to heaven. this would go against God, and going against the will of the Almighty would unmake existence. it comes down to a woman named Bethany, who is chosen (seemingly arbitrarily, but i wont spoil it) to stop them. they coincidentally meet on a train, each without knowing who the other is. Bethany eventually lets it slip that her job is to stop two angels, and the angels realize who she is. Bartleby almost kills her, but Silent Bob throws them both off the train. this scene follows that.
