Disassembling the Alvin Submersible

Time-lapse video of the Alvin submersible being disassembled at Woods Hole in 2005. Alvin is most famous for its recovery of a hydrogen bomb from the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea during the 1960s and its use in the close up exploration of the Titanic.

Alvin is a submersible, not a submarine. A submarine is fully autonomous, while a submersible needs a support ship.
