Did Avril Lavigne Steal From The Rubinoos?

A 1970's band called "The Rubinoos" just filed a lawsuit against Avril Lavigne for plagarism of their "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" song. The Rubinoos are known for penning the "Revenge of the Nerds' song (complete with geeky laughs if you remember). This clip shows the Rubinoos song over Avril's video. It is the chorus that really matches up to her song.

God, how I hate her music. I hope this lawsuit goes through. And it is just the chorus that matches, but almost exactly. And I don't get why she has to say "mother fucking," as if that makes her oh so cool.

saw her do the song live on TV, man what a sucky song....bit removed from her whiny man-hating tunes but not far.....man she totally stole the chorus.....hrhummph....givin' Canadians a bad rap, princess

I made a mistake in up voting this.

This really does not belong in my collective.

It is obscure because of The Rubinoos.

I am still wondering how she ripped their song/chorus. Has she heard their music?

avril lavinge gives me PTSD style seizures... never work in a mall people, never ever work in a mall.
