Crosby, Stills and Nash: Suite Judy Blue Eyes

In the liner notes booklet of the 1991 Crosby, Stills & Nash Box Set, Stills recalled that the various pieces of the multi segmented song "poured out over several months and filled several notebooks. I was left with all these pieces of songs and I said, 'Let's sing them together and call it a suite,' because they were all about the same thing and they led up to the same point." Stephen Stills wrote this about his then-girlfriend, folk singer Judy Collins, and the title is a play on words...Sweet Judy Blue Eyes.
mlxsays...

I've internalized this as the theme song to my very short first marriage, so maybe it's just meangingful to me because of that, but...incredible harmonies. I do like their stuff after they brought in Neal Young, but this is still my favorite.

They opened their Woodstock set with this, at 3:00am, on the last day then Jimi Hendrix closed the festival next (see below!)...love the bit at the end: "This is the second time we've played in front of people, man, we're scared shitless!"
