The Republicans are balking over the part of the rescue plan that lets home-owners readjust their loans to more realistic levels.

Typical of Republicans and conservatives in general: they will pick on the weak and bow to the strong.

Still to be worked out is whether to allow bankruptcy judges to modify mortgage terms, a provision backed by many Democrats and community activists but opposed by Republicans and the banking industry.
