Cheney is now battery-powered

Washington, DC - Former vice president Dick Cheney, 69, known to have a long history of heart problems, received a left-ventricular assist device (LVAD) last week because of advancing congestive heart failure, according to a statement released by his office.

"A few weeks ago, it became clear that I was entering a new phase of the disease when I began to experience increasing congestive heart failure," Cheney said in the statement. "After a series of recent tests and discussions with my doctors, I decided to take advantage of one of the new technologies available."

Cheney's LVAD implantation was performed by doctors at Fairfax Heart and Vascular Institute, a Virginia hospital just outside Washington, DC. In his statement, Cheney said the surgery went well and he is recuperating.

So basically she decided to report on Cheney's medical condition for 8 minutes for the implied gag of him having no pulse, which would be entertaining if this was the Daily Show. Leave the satire to Stewart, how are these relevant news? And even if they are, why the hell do people need to know about the specifics of the medical procedure he went through? I echo the above. I like Rachel and I understand the she hates Cheney. She wanted to make fun of him and compare him to Darth Vader, but she just didnt have the nuts to come out and say it. Pretty poor segment from The Smart One.

Edit: I was agreeing with Ninjainheat, Trancecoach snuck in while I was typing.
