CFR President on Iran's Nuclear Capabilities

Richard N. Haass from the Council on Foreign Relations* eludes to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad enriching uranium and bolstering nuclear capabilities.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_on_Foreign_Relations, "The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a nonpartisan foreign policy membership organization founded in 1921... many believe it to be the most powerful private organization to influence United States foreign policy."

America has no business in Iranian affairs, Richard Haass needs to read the American constitution.

"We don't know what the Iranians are up to, but they are building up capacity"

No country in the world post cold-war could have a nuclear capability without the UN, British or American intelligence knowing everything about it. What Richard Haass is saying is what everyone has been saying, they don't know the INTENTIONS of Iran, nobody does.

Meanwhile American nukes in Israel ILLEGALLY and against the non-proliferation treaty.

Pure propaganda.

What does the Constitution have to do with getting involved in something like this? All it says is that Congress needs to ratify treaties, and that Congress is the body that's empowered to declare war. It doesn't give us rules about what treaties or wars we should be involved in.

I agree, our own intelligence agencies have declared that Iran has no present capability to produce nuclear weapons. So the propaganda has moved to talking about the potential for them to develop weapons.

I don't personally see a problem with the U.S. engaging in diplomacy with Iran, as long as it's not the Bush style "disarm or we'll invade".

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I rather believe Ahamadinejad when he says he'd rather have peace with us than a conflict. I don't know what his intentions are with Israel, but I think he's smart enough to know that attacking them is likely to bring him more harm than good.

You don't see a problem with America engaging in diplomacy with Iran but the government that represents you certainly does.

Any country has the *potential* to develop weapons. America's support for Israel hands Iran the motive.

And anyway, diplomacy for what? America wants Iran to stop its nuclear programme, America isn't interested in even TALKING to Iran until it stops the programme, jesus fucking christ the Russians and Chinese wanted to have talks with Iran and America about this and America refused UNTIL they stopped the programme which Iran has every right to.

Sick of seeing American imperial propaganda on the internet, sick and fucking tired of it. Any bloody excuse to invade the middle east and you all fucking fall for it like uneducated vegetoid fucking slugs.

See the next bullshit American news production about the middle east that spews from the lying manipulative corporate fuckery that is American media, please take it and shove it up your collective fucking arses.

It is about time this bullshit was treated with the anger and contempt that it deserves.

"We want to talk to Iran", fuck you, 20 years of this bullshit and thank god some people can see it for what it is.

Irishman, you're preaching to the choir with me. There's nothing but pro-war propaganda here with regard to Iran most days, but this piece struck me as one of the few that gives people who're listening a chance to hear this supposed crazed extremist call for diplomacy, and express a desire for peace.

The talking head is trying to isolate and discredit Iran. His aim is to discredit and confuse anything Iran says.

These warmongering mf'ers (chickenhawks) have nothing to lose from starting a new war. Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi does still not have a spine. She had an excellent argument for finding her spine, in a congressional investigation, but she delegated that to her aides, who may or may not find the spine after they get done blowing lobbyists. LOL.

I'll just hold my breath for a couple weeks and see if the war with Iran turns nuclear. TBH, if you look at the relevant legislation in the USA, we are virtually at war with Iran now.
