Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint Trailer

Hilma af Klint (1862 - 1944) was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings were the first Western abstract works known to the current community - before male artists such as Kadinsky. She belonged to a group called “The Five”, comprised of a circle of women inspired by Theosophy - sharing the belief of importance of contacting the “High Masters”, often through seances. Her paintings, which sometime resemble diagrams, were visual representations of spiritual complex ideas.

In her will she instructed that her works not be exhibited until twenty years after her death. This documentary is about the struggle by her family and fans to have her work recognized by art historians.
