Andrei Tarkovsky on Discusses Cinema

Is Art good only if it sells well? Tarkovsky, Russia's greatest filmmaker, discusses cinema.

Although Tarkovksy directed only seven feature films during his twenty-year active career, he is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers of the late 20th century.

He attained critical acclaim for directing such films as Andrei Rublev, Solaris and Stalker.

Tarkovsky is, IMO, one of the most fascinating and artistic filmmakers I've ever seen. For those unfamiliar with his work, I implore you to watch Solaris (1972), Stalker (1978), or The Sacrifice (1984). While undoubtedly his work is not for everyone, I have found a reliable kinship with those people I've met who share my adoration for Tarkovsky's work.
