This is interesting---As a look into traditional Asian culture. First, the teacher requires the child demonstrate in front of the entire class at this command---then, the class rallies to support the child, who triumphs to the celebration of all.
The social support is of course wonderful.
The dark side of that is that if you are "deviant" or different in any way from the cultural norm ("The nail that sticks up gets beaten down")---then the peer pressure goes all against you.
And in a mono-culture, it's hard to find the way to a different pathway.
Pros and cons. Not better or worse, in my opinion---just different.
