buzzfeed women drinking whiskey for he first time

ChaosEngine says...

Too sweet for my taste.

And @Sagemind, you couldn't be further from the truth. If getting drunk is your aim, whiskey is one of the most expensive ways of doing that.

As for the video, I'm torn. On one hand, whiskey! and women! I like those things.

On the other hand.... ugh buzzfeed. fuck those guys.

edit: and I've just watched it... sorry @lv_hunter, but that was terrible.
They couldn't have tried more than just JD? No Scotch single malts? No Irish blends?

9 year old shoots instructor with uzi at gun range

artician says...

I'm torn. This whole thing strikes me equally as horribly-hilarious as it is tragic. I feel the worst for the girl. She just killed another human being. It doesn't matter where your political or firearm beliefs lie: that will forever change her life, and that in itself is such a terrible thing.

Jon Stewart Goes After Fox in Ferguson Monologue

Fairbs says...

Interesting that you bring up Sowell. I have a way right wing brother in law who wanted a Sowell book for X-mas. I got it for him and read about 2/3's of it before I gave it to him. Anyway, Sowell demonstrates the same flawed arguments that you do. And he also completely contradicts himself through the course of his essays (like you). As pointed out, you state that anyone that resorts to name calling loses the argument and in your very first post, you reference to Jon Stewart acting like a Nazi. Can you not comprehend this contradiction?

I don't believe in you being banned for your opinion. But, I do get a good laugh at how easily you are collectively torn apart time and time again. I also believe that deep down, you know that you are wrong in all of these comments. And admitting you're wrong ruins the utopia you live in where there's no racism, inequality, etc...

My brother said something very interesting last night. He said he got it from Thomas Sowell. He said, if the white people in this country ever stop caring anything about black people, there's going to be a huge wake-up call. They'll be on their own. Probably would be a good thing, then they can learn to rely on themselves.

Law Student Prevails Over State Robot Thug

What i see is vigilantes and crazy people wanting to get shot down and martyred by cops.

I'm pretty sure that when you ask the citizens in a warn torn country where guns are actually a requisite to survival what they feel about people carrying guns out in the open and i'll bet they don't like it either. They just have to do it. You, on the other hand, carrying one in USA don't actually need it. If you open carry, you just like to scare people.

The whole "i'm allowed to do what i want" theme goes out the window when the symbol in question actually is designed to kill living things. I had to think hard what is the difference between other freedoms, say, gay pride parade. You have to just accept it no matter what you think about it. One could say the same about freedom to carry guns but that's where i draw the line: does it kill you or not. If it doesn't, deal with it and move on. If it does, remove it from the public. Not against guns in the privacy of your own home but they DO NOT belong to streets unless they are carried by a professional.

And no, i don't trust the law enforcement blindly but they enforce laws that we have allowed our representatives to put in place.. if you have a problem with laws, you take it where the laws are made, not to the people enforcing them... And definitely you don't scare everyone else getting one either, which this "open carry activism" WILL lead to: you see guns out in the open, "I think need one now just to pop to get some milk, better get my AK".. Stupid stupider gun-nut. The same people are "rolling coal" plus a host of other symptoms.

Having more guns will just leave to more violence, that is a fact that is definitely shown in study after study. The way non-carrying citizens react to this should be a clear sign: society does NOT want that. Isn't that enough reason to stop?

Bilderberg Member "Double-Speaks" to Protestors

ChaosEngine says...

That article is terrible. For a start, they have the whole flat earth thing completely backwards. It was a scientific consensus that eventually convinced the ruling (religion based) culture that the earth was round, because of the evidence.

Exactly what is happening now with climate change.

But I'll grant that they certainly have better climate change credentials than anyone here. That doesn't make them right. What would make them right would be publishing a peer reviewed paper with new models and predictions and falsifiable results.

Anyway, a few seconds googling sees them pretty much torn to shreds.
http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/2014/02/20/mcnider-and-christy-defend-inertia/

Im' starting think that climate deniers genuinely don't understand the scientific method. It's simple; if there wasn't significant evidence that AGW was happening then it would be torn apart by other scientists. That's what peer review is for.

The authors of this article (both of them meteorology professors) have better climate science credentials than you do. One even served within the climate group that shared the Nobel prize with Al Gore for climate change advocacy.

Edgar Wright - How to Do Visual Comedy

Xaielao says...

Old School is perhaps the best american comedy in a decade. That said, I absolutely agree. Comedy here is very one-dimensional. It's jokes, nothing else. Usually very base ones that everyone will get with a spattering of 'gut-laughs'. I agree one of the biggest reasons as Drachan commented on is just how regimented and formulaic our entertainment is in this country.

This also exemplifies why I am so very torn with Edgar Wright leaving Ant Man and potentially Marvel. He's one of the best directors around and so very inventive. I adored World's End, though my favorite of the 'trilogy' will always be Hot Fuzz.

On the flip side, as a fan of the comic Scott Pilgrim was a terrible movie. He clearly took a lot of creative license with the beloved graphic novel while at the same time totally putting off the audience while at the same time doing nothing to bring in people who have never heard of it previously, which is why it bombed so very hard.

So he left Ant Man, easily one of my top 5 favorite Marvel characters, because of creative differences. I suspect he wanted to do something very different then the established material and Marvel was against that because they want to link him to their other movies (DUH!). So while I think the movie could potentially have been fantastic under his direction, it could just as easily have been marvels biggest bomb since Hulk.

Vermont Becomes The First State To Pass Wolf PAC Resolution

I'm actually torn on Citizens United these days. The issue is with carefully defining terms. For example, how do we define campaign contributions? If the New York Times runs an op-ed endorsing a candidate, is that a contribution? If Michael Moore makes a film favorable to one candidate or another, is that a contribution? (hint... hint) Nobody likes the Kochs, but how do you sort out one from the other? What if the rich guys just decide to go buy newspapers instead? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/09/business/media/the-return-of-the-newspaper-barons.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

the girls of surfing X

ChaosEngine says...

I'm kinda torn on these. On the one hand, that's some pretty *skilful surfing.

On the other, it's kinda sad that surfing videos with women all seem to spend half their time gazing lustfully at girls in bikinis (see the rozy ad for how bad this can get *related=http://videosift.com/video/New-Roxy-Ad-Sexploitation-or-Not-You-Decide)

The Wire creator David Simon on "America as a Horror Show"

gorillaman says...

What is a $300,000 wristwatch? It's a $5 wristwatch mechanism with a bunch of diamonds or whatever hammered into it. And what are diamonds? Shiny pebbles. So what you have is something that cost all this labour to create but is actually worthless. What you have, actually, is $300,000 worth of value torn out of the world by criminals.

What I want to know is, what's the person who buys the wristwatch from Tom Perkins supposed to do with it? Shouldn't they also sell the watch to fund drug treatment centres?

I like the idea of this hallowed watch-totem perpetually moving hand-to-hand around the world shaming rich people into philanthropy. Then it could actually have been worth making.

Stay in School Kids

RedSky says...

Funny, but let's be honest, when kids are disparaged from skipping class, rarely is that followed with "because your carelessness will lead you to accidentally stumble into an explosive testing range where your limbs will be comically torn asunder as you are killed sequentially in classic horror movie fashion."

TERRIFYING Video of Rock Fall Aftermath in the Alps

Interesting to see that one of the huge boulders in the field behind the house is in the streetview pics and seems to be related to a separate incident before this one.

From the video above, I assume its the big boulder that doesn't have a fresh trail of torn up grass leading to it?

Cops using unexpected level of force to arrest girl

chingalera says...

@artician- You are correct in your observations the reason being....currently a recent victim of two HPD officers willing to perjure themselves before a jury in order to satisfy their egos and their state mandate to fill beds in their jails (or prison, had we decided not to take a plea down to keep them from sealing our fate).
Felony obstruction for mouthing-off in the back of a cop car to a couple of complete douchebags who could not stand that we would not let them treat us like some kid a couple of jocks would have bullied in junior high.

The official statement was alleged that their lives had been threatened which when in fact we surmised in colorful detail their mommy and daddy issues, their obvious history of abuse and or neglect, questioning their sexuality and manhood simultaneously, all while we voluntarily accompanied them into said car in cuffs from a girl's apartment after we gave them the benefit of the doubt and rendered I.D. to them and TOLD them we had a warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket.

Was in the home of a friend when her ADT system (installed a day earlier) sent a false alarm-They had tried to call her but she was passed-out with an I.V. in her arm (vitamin treatment) bed-ridden with a torn ligament. Cops came to the door, was just waking-up and (stupidly) let them in and addressed their incivility when they after determining that the alarm call was false, began to ask me what my "problem" was-Asked them why they had to act like a couple of uncivil douchebags in someone's home and asked politely if the one cop, would remove his dark sunglasses and that they were making me nervous.

This is Texas BTW, land of the most redneck fucks to be found anywhere in the planet of police.

Meet an an idiot who poked the rabid dogs with a stick and found soon that we had over-stepped our "freedom of speech."

Yeah, fucking pissed and for good reason. It's called a felony what they did, and with full-participation of the D.A. and the judge.

Ten years ago this would not have happened. we know because we have spoken our mind to arresting cunts before, as well as spoken like a gentleman to those treating us with the same consideration who represented the local constabulary.

All cops are or will be felons during the course for their tenure as a "peace officer', in the United States.

Now we must jump though many, many hoops to fulfill probation obligations, pay money we don't have, and if I make it through, will be able to have the case sealed, so that we might work again in this state without having a felony (never before) on our permanent record.

So this is Canada?? Your time is coming as well, just look at the show-out when the damn G-20 came to Canada a few years back.

They're gearing-up for chaos folks-
(collective object-pronoun used to avoid incrimination) If you are interested, we'll tell you why in a P.M. It's kind of hard not to be incensed while being kicked while prone.

Been bullied by cunts just like this on the sift before and those petty cowards are afraid to even show their asses here any longer.

RC Car with Camera Meets a Group of Lions

MilkmanDan says...

The lioness on the left in some of the group shots seems to have a blind right eye. Can't make out any damage around the socket, but it seems like there may be a scar on the left side of her head and a torn lip.

I had a cat that looked pretty roughed up like that after picking fights with coyotes. Tough ol' bastard. I wonder what that lion got on the bad side of?
