Self-Freezing Coke
I don't know how well it works, but wikipedia lead me to this cheep product that's supposed to make it easy to supercool any bottled beverage.

I think this sort of idiot proofing is what I need to get it right; I always either somehow agitate the beer or cool it too much.
Self-Freezing Coke
>> ^spoco2:
Cool. I was initially concerned that it'd have to have something nasty in it to do this, but what it seems is actually happening is that because the coke is stored under pressure, it can be kept below its normal freezing temperature without it actually freezing. Then when you open it and mix it around, you've released the pressure and it can now freeze.
The taking a swig is presumably just to make room for the expansion on freezing.
At lease this seems to be the explanation.
Along with this it may be a form of supercooling and when the bottle is open, nucleation (the bubbles formed by the CO2, for everyone that doesn't know what I'm saying) begins to allow ice crystals to form in the water that is already below freezing in the storage machine.

Okay, just created a page about blankfist and how supercool he is. I think the wiki is complete now. Nothing else to be done.
If only everyone saw you as your dog does.

SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
Exploding Superheated Water
this works only in microwaves w/o rotating tray. spinning disturbs the water to cause it to boil.
you can also supercool water. get it below the freezing point w/o freezing. but the smallest disturbance causes it to crystallize.

Come on, e'rybody! Let's see your pets! (Pets Talk Post)
This is Miss Isobel, aka: Issy, or maybe I should say Queen Isobel? She is my strikingly beautiful girl, and she'll be 4 yrs old this October. I also have a new plucky little kitten (about 10 wks old) named Dr. Franklin Timothy, or Frankie for short. You can see what he looks like in my blog. Both of them had pretty rough starts, and they were both rescued from certain death. Issy fell very ill with a severe kitty flu at about 8 weeks old, the day after I brought her home. I had to nurse her back to health by having her rehydrated at the vet's and giving her antibiotics and eyedrops. She is just the picture of health now, and she is so supercool and smart, opening doors, and fetching and bringing things to me all the time. She and I have an extra special bond, and she enjoys talking to me.
Frankie is really starting to settle in, and he is still very young. If you check out my blog, you can read about his raccoon attack when he was only 6 weeks old. He's already more than doubled in weight since we had him at 7 wks old. He just got his first set of vaccinations, and he went from previously weighing just one pound to 2&1/2. His leg has healed nicely, and he's gaining strength in it everyday. He's only recently just started to climb, and we have a rad cat tower for him to play in. He has a wonderfully loud purr, and he loves Issy and thinks she is soooo cool. DFT and I are lucky ones to have the both of them as they are endless joy and amusement.
Freeze a Beer in 2 Seconds
The vid's explanation is indeed incorrect. Check my tags, thought, I did put supercooled fluid for that very reason.
And and upvote for the Man-Law vid. Never knew it was even in the queue.
Freeze a Beer in 2 Seconds
i hope i'm not wrong, otherwise i'll get run over by the sift bus, but i'm pretty sure the explanation is incorrect. i do this with my Smart Water daily at work, and as far as i know, there's no CO2 in my water, releasing pressure.
the real reason this happens is nucleation. though i don't get why the initial rise of CO2 when the bottle is opened does not provide that nucleation. with water, all that is required is a bubble, and the supercooled water will start to form ice crystals on that seed. in the beer's case, this was the sudden formation of CO2 bubbles at the bottom due to the violation of Man-Law (beer tapping). this formed a seed where nucleation occurs. leaving the bottle closed, and simply giving it a quick shake (as i do with my water) should provide the same results.

Isn't this JAWS 3D? I believe it is. If it is, I remember seeing it in theaters back in the day and thinking it was supercool because of the "color" 3D glasses, as opposed to the red and blue ones. And, I have to agree with bamdrew, that was a cool shot at the end. Though, I'm not sure I get the metal band thing.
