My Strange Addiction

Hitler learns he can't stop vote counting

BSR says...

It's like republicans need a babysitter to keep them from jumping on the couch and scribbling on the walls with crayons. Not to mention the shaving cream mess.

Oh no.....say it ain't so.....

A Pennsylvania postal worker whose claims have been cited by top Republicans as potential evidence of widespread voting irregularities admitted to U.S. Postal Service investigators that he fabricated the allegations, according to three officials briefed on the investigation and a statement from a House congressional committee.

Richard Hopkins’s claim that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., instructed postal workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day was cited by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) in a letter to the Justice Department calling for a federal investigation. Attorney General William P. Barr subsequently authorized federal prosecutors to open probes into credible allegations of voting irregularities and fraud, a reversal of long-standing Justice Department policy.

But on Monday, Hopkins, 32, told investigators from the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General that the allegations were not true, and he signed an affidavit recanting his claims, according to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe an ongoing investigation. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee tweeted late Tuesday that the “whistleblower completely RECANTED.”

Hopkins did not respond to messages seeking comment.

This liar was cited in numerous Trump lawsuits as the best most direct evidence of fraud....they've got nothing.

Surprise surprise surprise. 🤦‍♂️

Gendered Marketing

Xaielao says...

As the video shows, the basic gender defining trait for this marketing is pink for girls and blue for boys, even though 60 years ago it was the opposite. I agree that most of us grew up in this era and so those defining marketable traits are believed simply because we grew up with that definition.

Another example is the idea of not being clean unless you us soap, shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, etc. Many people (myself included) have stopped using such items and found that, after an adjustment period, there's really no difference. My hair is healthier and fuller since stopping using shampoo and my skin isn't as dry without soap. I shower with just water and the only time I stink is after a work out. Most people believe you'd become Pig Pen if you didn't use these items but that is simply because they grew up in an era where they've used them as long as they can remember and cannot imagine ever not using them.

There's certainly a cultural element, but I feel that if there simply wasn't this marketing divide just a few short generations ago, that culture alone plays a small role.

How do you deal with drunk women passed out on the couch?

This Commercial is F**king Great... Just Like Our Blades

rottenseed says...

Thanks for that man. I have a well-groomed beard but I like to keep my neck clean-shaven and my neck-line tight. Unfortunately, neck skin tends to be the most delicate. I end up having to go through those expensive-ass cartridges like once every 4 or 5 shaves. Once that blade-jizzm dries out, it tends to wreck havoc on my skin. I'm wish-listing all of your recommendations for purchase when the last of my cartridges runs out (or shortly before) >> ^Fletch:

>> ^jqpublick:
I didn't know about the after-shave, I'll check it out. Thanks.
>> ^therealblankman:
@gwiz665 I knew the part about the ladies would convince you.
For my fellow Canucks you can buy the Proraso line at Shoppers Drugs across the country. They also carry the "Real Shaving" products from England- I really like their after-shave balm, use it every day.

I switched to DE shaving about a year ago after reading some enthusiastic comments for it somewhere. I used to abhor shaving. Now, it has become a pleasurable, zen-like ritual instead of a monotonous chore. I will never go back to cartridges.
For those thinking of giving it a go, I'd just recommend getting one of the many blade sample packs you can find on Amazon and on just about any site that sells DE razors. There are many different skin and beard types, and not all blades will feel and perform the same for everybody. I ended up choosing Astra Superior Premium Platinums. Buy them in a hundred pack and they are about 11.5 cents apiece. I get about 5 or 6 shaves per blade. Some people will get less. Some will get more. Even if you shave every day (I don't), it's cheaper than the Dollar Shave Club (initial costs aside).
If the initial cost is off-putting to you, take trip to the local grocery store and stare at the ridiculous price of replacement cartidges for the razor you are using now. DE razors and accessories are like cars, computers and kitchen knives. You can spend as much as you desire on one. There are many excellent razors under fifty bucks available. I use a Merkur Heavy Classic 43c and I love it. Unlike cartridge razors, it wil last a lifetime.
But cost savings isn't the reason I would recommend DE shaving. The benefits listed above by @therealblankman are the reasons why it's superior to catridge shaving. DE shaving takes a little longer than cartridge shaving (if you want baby smooth cheeks), but the results are more than worth it.
Proraso seems to have a following by the looks of some of the above comments, and for good reason. I also use the Proraso Ultra-Sensitive soap, the Proraso aftershave balm, and Proraso Anti-Irritation pre-shaving cream. I complete the kit with a nice badger hair shaving brush.

Shaving Cream Under Vacuum

Boise_Lib says...

>> ^Sagemind:

Not at all what I expected. I figured it would implode and shrink as all the air is pumped out.
Is the foam retaining, and locking in the air? Is the foam stronger than the applied vacuum?
If the air is truly being pumped out, why would the foam bubbles not be popping and breaking down?

If the foam were introduced into a hard vacuum quickly it would breakdown. Since the air is slowly being pumped out of the bell jar the bubbles in the foam expand slowly. If the pump was faster, or the video was longer, you'd see the foam will breakdown as more air is removed. Eventually you'd end up with a hard vacuum as the liquid boiled off.

Rupert Murdoch Pie to the Face

I love how people react when these things happen.
"Oh my god! No!"
Settle down, folks, it's a pie.
It's interesting to consider, though, how difficult it would be to smuggle an uncovered pie. I'd think a billy club would be easier (and obviously way more dangerous) which tells me that the security team should really be canned.

More likely he snuck in a small tube of shaving cream and a folded paper receptacle.

Killing Us Softly: Advertising's Image of Women

peggedbea says...

this thread got tldr.

here's my 2 cents. an over abundance of advertising is damaging. not just for how it portrays women, not just for impressionable girls and boys who are possibly likely to grow up with a skewed sense of identity and self worth. it's just damaging. to everyone. to cultures. to the psyche. it's too much. and it's constant.

women are intelligent and can think for themselves. i'm not falling for the "you don't look like kim kardashian?!? get your fat ass some slim fast and some loreal, dye your hair, wear this underwear, smell this way, use this roller ball crunch machine you fat fucking ugly cow" ads. and neither is my daughter (so far). because we are not at all exposed to it consistently.

know what it takes to brainwash someone? a few hours a day of content and a peer group who agrees with said content. that's it. period. so you take 10 elementary school kids who watch television 2 or 3 hours a day and have them all hang out together 8 hours a day at school. eventually you will get a generation who eat doritos and snack cakes and think that their bodies and their make up and their shaving cream represent them. thats not just damaging to women. its damaging to culture. period. my complaints are not as feminist, but as a human being. enough is enough already. can we please quit buying sooo much stupid shit already?!?!??

disposable razors (Blog Entry by jwray)

Sarzy says...

Really? Because I'm a fairly hairy fellow, and I have a Philishave shaver that works pretty much perfectly for me. If I wait much longer than a few days between shaves then I have to use the trimming attachment before I can shave normally, but aside from that it works great. Certainly, it's easier than going through the trouble of putting on shaving cream and having to rinse the shaver every five seconds and all the other rigmarole that goes with non-electric shaving.

A marine hell-bent on vengeance.

There's a story here.

Personally, you can never go wrong with shaving cream.

Strategically placed saran-wrap is probably a secret I shouldn't divulge.

I've said too much....
