As for it being off-air, it's my understanding from people who were listening to the Bear, that this was live. Unfortunately I was listening to Howard Stern contemplate, on-air, firing Benjy Bronk for being late for work again. Lots of radio drama that day.

There are a lot of people saying it's fake, but I'm not completely convinced. While I would have hit the mute/off-air button if it had been me, maybe he thought he could talk his way out of it and then got caught up in the argument.
