That's a silly comparison. It's like saying it's OK to go around hitting people randomly with a stick because there's other people out there who murder and rape. Simply being not as bad as the other guy does not free you of moral obligations.


One of the 'big' issues in Canada is wearing veils when voting. We have Islamic lobby's complaining it is a violation of their rights to be forced to reveal their faces in order to verify their identity and be allowed to vote. It's about the 'strongest' example of 'christian' repression that comes to mind in Canada right now, so I think my analogy was quite appropriate. The fact our own comedians were doing this back in the 90's should suggest that at least our country truly does respect freedom of and from religion.

I was watching "A Fissionchips Called Wanda," and I started thinking, "You know who would have been great in this movie? Laurence Fissionchipsburne."

After finishing the movie, I decided to read to my kids before putting them to bed. They just love that book "One fissionchips, two fissionchips, red fissionchips, blue fissionchips," by Dr. Seuss.

After tucking in the kids, I spent most of the night reading a Douglas Adams tome. My favorite line?

"So long, and thanks for all the fissionchips."

I've never seen a single piece of evidence to suggest porn might be bad for children. It's rare for anyone to even specify the kind of damage they believe it would do. All of my experiences with pornography, childhood and otherwise, have been entirely positive and as far as I can tell so have everybody else's.

Seeing porn at an early age would educate children about their bodies and their function; if the child is old enough to feel sexual desire it would identify and perhaps relieve that urge; and by providing explicit knowledge of sex at an early age it might immunise the child against some of the bullshit with which our society has surrounded that simple act. Your concerns for the child's safety are misguided - it's always safer to be enlightened than ignorant.

I believe you are ignorant of the maturation process of your own species. For example you are astonished and indignant that twelve year-olds engage in sexual display behaviour, which is wholly normal and healthy at that age. Children have an ever-developing sexuality, and they both enjoy and benefit from the opportunity to understand and address it.
