Top Gear crew nearly get lynched in Alabama

99ways2die says...

theo47 says..

Smart and tolerant include, vandalizing peoples homes because they want Obama out of office? Teachers attacking students because their not Democratic? People making threats of rape to women and their children because they want to get some one in office who don't tax the shit out of honest small and middle class businesses who really want to get people working again? Oh yeah I guess it is, because you all follow the man who's best friends are the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda. And their idea of tolerance is like all Libtards, If you want it a cerian way you'll tolerate those who also want it and if some one wants some thing else you'll tolerate the rape and murder that happens to them for disagreeing.

I bet you Libtards are real pissed now that our own Military that Obama claims to be his Military are standing up saying they didn't join to work on the side of Al-Qae4da.

You Liberals constantly make claims that are so fucking bogus then you watch a video like this and say how it's all the right but during the whole administration you people have been rioting, murdering, vandalizing, talking way more hate then anyone you have blamed for it, shit now you want to run to the Obamaman because you don't like who's playing Batman, you're idea of tolerance is such bullshit you make the real world want to puke. Fuck a liberal, you're all worthless and as far as I'm concerned and really as far as the Bill of Rights and Constitution is concerned you're all traitorous Communist, Marxist, and socialist garbage. There is nothing to be tolerant about you pieces of shit. Oh and in real life I guess you stupid Nazis never have watched Top Gear because I see you're defending their safety using this episode to blame the right (which by the way The real right finds the people on this video as inbread wastes of life as well, almost as much as they find you) and Top Gear UK is always talking about the Democrats and the Liberals getting in they way of every ones lives, just as you do here as well.

If you're a Liberal fuck you and have a nice day you intolerant communist fucking nut cases.

Wanted: YouTube to AVI download and converter (Howto Talk Post)

braschlosan says...

Can I give an answer that doesn't fit the original question? Instead of converting them why not just download them in original form and install VLC media player? It can play EvErYtHiNg you can throw at it and then some. No loss of quality or increase in file size because of conversion.

If that is an acceptable answer then if you use firefox install the VideoDownloadHelper plugin which can create a little greyed out icon on your status bar. When a supported video is detected on the currently active page it will become a colored animated icon where you can download the file.

OTHERWISE install the VideoDownloadHelper and use its built in conversion on the fly ability

Bad Question to Ask a Chess Player

PalmliX says...

He's one of the best chess players in the world! Maybe everyone is just too used to the 'non-answers' that most pro-athletes tend to give. Unlike pro-sports, top chess players tend to actually give truthful and detailed answers that don't assume the audience is completely ignorant. I'm a casual player myself and was able to follow this. Granted he has a strong accent and talks rapidly but I was still able to follow it.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that he's answering this question within the context of the game he just played. If you didn't watch the game, or don't have the positions in front of you then yah, this answer would essentially be meaningless.

Stephen Colbert's Heartwarming Tearful Tribute to His Mother

Who Would Want to Buy Anything From These Pricks??

mxxcon says...

Many people keep their consoles in areas of a house where there is no internet connection and they are not interested in it. They will happily play garage band/guitar hero or other party games.

xbox1 will be completely unusable to military personnel that are deployed overseas. On military bases internet connection is usually available only in designated locations and at designated times(think internet cafe-type setup).

A game can be EVER run on only 2 consoles. If you like to trade/exchange/lend your games with your friends, forget about it.

You can lend the same game to the same person only once.

In order to lend or sell/give away/trade games with somebody they must be in your friends list for at least 30 prior days.

If you want to play games you must pay Microsoft $60/year for as long as you use the console. $60, $120, $180, $240, $300. After 5 years you paid MS almost as much as the console itself for nothing.

HiroEX said:

I really don't get why people are so upset over the new xbox. Could someone elaborate why it's so bad? The online check-in really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me, and it's somewhat understandable since they moved to a completely digital distribution (games are just pre-loads to save bandwidth), while still allowing people to transfer their digital games. Granted, I don't really ever sell my used games (am i an odd one out for that?) I keep seeing people say MS is being anti-consumer... what are they doing exactly that's infuriating everyone so much? Looking for someone to please explain what I'm missing?

Deceptive Shadows

zeoverlord says...

Any aperture will produce this result, it's just that a larger aperture will produce a fuzzier image, so at one point it will just blur beyond recognition.
Basically every tiny detail in the image is spread out over the area of the shape of the apeture, but if you spread out the image over a large area you can get a pretty decent quality image.
The size of the image is determined by the ratio of the distance from the focal point to the sun and the wall respectively.
In this case the focal point is in the aperture itself but if your using a lens it can be elsewhere.

Diffraction only comes into play when you have a really tiny aperture.

jonny said:

I know next to nothing about photography, but I guess this has something to do with the ratio of the size of the aperture to focal length? Anyone care to explain in more detail?

PS4 Announcement - Abridged Version

VoodooV says...

does the PS4 play games? you know...the sole reason anyone would want to buy one?

in fairness, I have the same complaint about the Xbox and Wii. In their feverish scramble to add extra crap to their consoles that no one wanted or asked for, they seem to be neglecting games.

Huge amounts of Coal Seam Gas bubbling in Australian River

GeeSussFreeK says...

Yes, this is part of the new gas extraction craze taking off around the world. In many cases, the natural gas, including methane, isn't worth collecting, it is easier to just burn it then to try and sell it. Usually they are after the liquid hydrocarbons in these new deposits that horizontal mining has allowed access too. One might point to some sinister aim in this kind of venting, but I imagine this offgassing happened outside their control, bubbling up outside of their containment. This can happen if care isn't taken or some geological factor comes into play which you didn't account for...it is a pretty neat science actually, gives geologists something new to do and map out. Generally speaking, if your venting gasses, your also venting the stuff you are trying to collect, which is undesirable, even more so if it is the gasses your after (and depending on the regional prices, that is usually what they are after, australian deposites are usually pretty low in liquid hydrocarbons, meaning they are usually after gas in the land down under). I just posted a very long winded video on the subject if you wish to learn more details about the environmental and health impacts of fracking and new gas extractions technologies. In the end, it might just be a new hydrocarbon to burn and throw into the atmosphere and cause harm. Butin the short term, it might be a good tool for destroying the coal lobby making way for actual low carbon systems to come online like solar, wind and nuclear. Like all things in life, its complicated with benefits and consequences.

spoco2 said:

I know bugger all about this, but wouldn't this be actually useful for something? Do they just let it get out like this with no care as they're after other things, or can they not control this when using fracking?

Tim Keller Speaks of God, Evolution, Dawkins and Faith

silvercord says...

Wow. I'm not here to argue whether or not evolution is true or not; thought I was clear about that. You're welcome to it over at talkorigins.org I, for one, don't think evolution is falsifiable since it isn't reproducible. I didn't say it didn't happen. Just that it isn't falsifiable. I can find evolutionists who both disagree with me and agree with me. It's just my position. Since the scientific method requires experimentation to prove the theory, well, I think there is a problem there. You don't. OK. I'm good with that. >> ^PalmliX:

You can't apply the scientific method to evolution!?!? How exactly do you think the theory has come to exist? Without the scientific method there would be no theory of evoloution.
Of course the scientific method is in the hands of imperfect human beings, we created it, who else's hands would it be in? Yes humans are imperfect and that can sometimes lead to bad science, but the answer to bad science isn't no science, it's more science.
Should we just give up on science all together because humans aren't perfect? How else do you suggest we separate fact from fantasy? Truth from fiction? I really find your philosophy troubling because it seems to suggest that since we can't know everything, right away, perfectly, that we might as well not try?
Also I really don't care about some inane argument Dawkins made that has now been refuted. As I've said before, he's just one man and at the end of the day his opinions really don't matter, his thoughts on evolution in no way change the facts of evolution or the validity of the scientific method in general.
It's a silly semantic game that you play when you say 'I didn't hear Keller say there is or isn't a god, or evolution is bunk' etc... Yes he didn't use those exact words but the larger issue at hand is the same and you know it!
Finally, evolution isn't falsifiable? I stopped taking science after grade 10 and I can already think of a couple ways evolution could be falsified. For example, if we found an organism that couldn't have been formed from the evolutionary process, or if we found the fossil of an animal that existed in a time that would have been impossible by evolutionary predictions. I'm sure biologists have come up with a lot more.
>> ^silvercord:
In this clip I don't hear Keller say there is or isn't a God. I don't hear him say that evolution is bunk or not. I hear him saying that Dawkins argument is spurious for several reasons.
As I understand it, the scientific method requires that something must be falsifiable; evolution is not. I'm not saying evolution doesn't happen, just that you can't apply the scientific method to it. Also, the scientific method is always in the hands of humans. That is the fly in the ointment. Humans are hugely fallible. The method may be perfect, but the handlers aren't.
I think it would be beneficial to watch the entire talk so that Keller isn't being made the problem for pointing out the problem. There is a problem and it isn't Keller or me. It isn't you either. It's the fallibility of humans not being taken into account in this equation.

Hi, I see you commented, but I don't seem to be able to leave a independent comment, so don't hope you don't mind me replying to yours. To be released on the 12-12-12 - A Madness Shared by Two, is not only the true untold story about the lives of Sabina and Ursula Eriksson, alongside the murder of Glenn Hollinshead, based on a critique re-examination of the BBC’s Madness in the Fast Lane documentary that had 7 million viewers [with a conservative estimate of around a further 15 million people having since watched this film via the internet and on websites such as YouTube],glued to their TV screens watching the twin sisters propelling themselves into the fast lane of the oncoming traffic on the UK’s-M6 motorway, as Ursula manages to throw herself under the wheels of a 40ft articulated lorry travelling at 60mph, that seems to swallow her up and spit her lifeless looking body back out of its rear end. It is also the result of a thorough investigation into what might have really happened on those fateful days that led up to this tragic slaying of an innocent man. We challenge the “Official Storyline” and expose what really occurred just hours before M6 dash, for it is here for the first time we expose the Eriksson sisters were “arrested” under the Mental Health Act, though this vital caught on film evidence was edited out of the original BBC films. This will come as a great surprise to many people who questioned; ‘...how was it possible Sabina could have been released from hospital after only five hours’ following their ‘suicide attempt’ on the M6? We also reveal that the coroner’s report shows that the injuries inflicted on Glenn, indicate more than one person probably killed him and that Sabina could be totally innocent. Yet this obvious evidence seems to have been brushed under the carpet, or at the very least, it was never challenged. We explain how these twins were very likely embroiled in a major drugs smuggling ring and that they had been under “Obbo” [police observation] prior to the M6 incident, and was probably so for quite some period of time. As a result of our findings, legal action is now being sought and brought against the police and other related authoritative bodies by the Hollinshead family.
