You hear about similar sort of shit happening in Australia too, with social workers not removing kids from abusive carers despite reports or complaints until it's too late. However, you hear them removing kids over such minor, non-issues... like smoking pot (probably to look like they're doing their job).

ok that said what KEEPS killing me is the picture of smiling 12 year old Trayvon that the media (even the Turks) keep using. In many countries he's be old enough to be a father and hold a full time job, yes 17 is a young age but it is NOT a kid. (I'm thinking 12 and under as a kid)

My issue with trangender lifestyles is that the idea of sex change surgery is not the same a the reality - a hole is not a vagina and from what I hear theres a lot of later disillusionment.

I think its a shame that before puberty there should be a binary choice to make. If a little boy of mine wanted to play in dresses I hope I'd just let it go by in an unpressurized way. Probably the society at large force a premature crisis and that's our failing not the kid's.

This guy is selling this cabinet. He may not have kids but the buyers may have kids.

It is a fact that some gun owners ARE irresponsible gun owners. A gun safe is the only thing to have in a household with children. Responsible gun owners with children would not buy this product.

In the past year or so, here in the State of Washington, TWO police officers were careless with their guns around their children. A three year old boy killed his 6 year old sister with a service pistol left unattended in a car while the parents went to pay for the gas. A ten year old girl shot herself in the leg when her father left his service pistol on his nightstand -- just one week after a gun safety class where he was reprimanded IN CLASS for handling a gun carelessly.

I grew up with guns. I was taught gun safety. I have no problem with most guns.

And there is plenty of evidence of people being stupid with guns. This guy who is selling a gun related product would do well to have a warning that his unlocked cabinet is not safe around children.

I've made the Kids mistake myself. What I'd like to see is better/longer tool-tip channel descriptions for the check boxes on the submit form. That would place the information right where and when we need it to act (see "kairos").

Not REALLY sifters' fault. The operator(s) of the channel could take a couple minutes and actually make a difference with that couple minutes by jotting down a respectable description.

I've suggested before, and will again, the pop-up channel descriptions when you hover over a channel on the video submission page need to be longer and CLEARER.

Interview channel would/could emcompass much of Latenight, Talks, Documentaries, 1sttube, even Politics. How about something more precise like "Debates"? You could start grabbing from Religion, Politics, Controversy, and Philosophy right away. I'd dig a Debates channel.

Gratuitous channel suggestion: how about a Self-sift channel (or area, or something), where members can post their own stuff? I think it's been suggested before, but I'm old and don't remember what the consensus was, or if there was a consensus (or if it was even suggested before).

EDIT: Could the Sift utilize an Interview Channel? I'm definitely a maybe baby.
