CIA Is Operating Inside The New York Police Department

Prank telemarketers by pretending you're a 911 operator!

vaire2ube says...

from the YT comments, poster says "its my phone, they called me" .. he's not doing anything wrong .. think about it, how can you impersonate a 911 operator to the extent of causing detriment or harm to anyone calling your 10 digit number from a business... they weren't expecting 911, and don't need it

>> ^grinter:

Aren't 911 operators law enforcement officers?
Isn't impersonating a law enforcement officer a crime?

Yogi, I agree with this thought - I always like your comments. You seem like a cool dude or dudette, haha!

I think it's all about solidarity in local politics. The left will always be ignored though. I've witnessed it, I've recounted many times when you know San Francisco / Bay Area residents shutdown SF for several business days the day we started bombing Iraq. You didn't see it in the news - it had no support though it was a democratic movement & one I'd venture to say was an important statement for all Americans who agreed with it. I've seen, what I'd call "mainstream" tactics at protests - it's exactly what mainstream media is about. They create their own scenarios and infiltrate in order to break it up. The whole system is corrupt. It's exactly why Bush was voted in twice. What do we do? I refuse to vote any longer except in local politics. I could go on and on with this topic.

Too many people believe in democratic change through protests and who we vote in as a President. It simply doesn't work that way unless people become very aggressive on a very large scale. I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying it needs to be very organized, the message simple and the actions hopefully non-violent - but I have not seen non-violent disobedience work in all of my 30 years.

I'm starting to have little sympathy for the American public. I started out with hating these corporations and hating the Right...now I'm starting to get pissed at the Left and the people. We have the internet, we have the ability to organize...so why the fuck aren't you doing it? The Left could've been organizing people the last couple decades they've fucked up royal. Online movements translated into protests and a groundswell of progress could've happened (and can still) but hasn't. Not that there hasn't been victories but what I see is TONS of like minded people, not happy with the way the corporations and the government fuck us and then not doing anything about it.
We have a democracy...it's not entirely broken. USE IT!

The more of Gods laws this country openly flaunts, the more it hastens itself towards destruction. God has richly blessed this nation, and because of that, He requires much of us..

HAHAHAHA!!! What the FUCK?! How has some mythical, nebulous idea invented by man that you call "god" done ANYTHING for this country, or any other thing that exists, for that matter?

To deny the power, determination, and ingenuity of mankind is to truly walk life blind. The lie that is god did not do anything to "bless" this country. Anything and everything that we have is solely because of US. Us fellow humans get things done on our own. We live and survive and let live without the need for archaic misbeliefs.

If there is one thing that religion does, it's motivate through fearmongering, not anything worth subscribing to or openly admitting you believe in. To do so, is to admit mental illness, and the rest of us who are sane will eagerly cast you aside to be left behind with the rest of the backward thinkers. Religion does more long term damage than it does good, and you're lying to yourself by being fearful to live life without some mythical deity holding your hand and babysitting you all along the way.

Super 8 is Good Retro Fun (Blog Entry by dag)

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

I don't think that's a huge plot hole - they were hoping for a quick capture, underestimating the smarts of their opponent - as the military is wont to do. then they realized they needed to go to Plan B.

Saw Brides Maids on the weekend - a damn good movie.

@dag, also my friend brought up a good point, why for three days when the air force know of this alien do they not do anything about it? They wait until the 3rd act (ahem) to evacuate the city.
Playing devil's advocate, obviously. I did like the movie.

Petition to Apply Affirmative Action to the Basketball Team

Has Yao Ming seen this vid?

BTW where does one sign up for "white privilege?" If you budget your time and $, watch less TV, read books, study, perhaps attend classes of any kind beyond high school, show up for a job on time every day and work hard, the "privilege" gap seems to go away on its own.

But I'm always looking for shortcuts.

Racial discrimination happens to people regardless of income. Noone checks your bank account or your credit when they decide to act on their prejudice against you.
Anyone in America who qualifies as "white" benefits from white privilege.
>> ^Morganth:
Affirmative action in Britain is simply known as "positive discrimination."
I can't deny that societal issues are still a problem - poor income areas still have poor quality schools, which means you can't do anything with your poor education and stay in the poor area with a poor job. However, if you wait until college applications are sent in or people are applying for jobs, the damage has already been done and you're just transferring discrimination to a different group.
Further, blanket rules (using race as an equalizer) just discriminate in different ways. There are some wealthy & affluent minorities who will benefit even more from affirmative action though they never needed it. There are also plenty of poor whites who will suffer even more. All Eastern European, Russian, & Jewish immigrants would still be classified as 'white' and be on the losing end of affirmative action even though they may need even more than some minorities here.
Societies do have a responsibility to their weaker members, but affirmative action is a terrible misapplication of a good intention. Instead, address the issue at its root - by the time people are applying for college and/or jobs, it's too late and not doing anything. Try bringing up the educational values of grade schools (I mean, before even high school) in affected areas.

Found a Sexist Indictment of another community. What U Think? (Sift Talk Post)

spoco2 says...

Yeah, I think it's mostly that there are about that many women programmers, nothing to do with the 'community being hostile'.

I too have been in the industry for over 10 years now and have had ONE female coder who I've worked alongside, and they were HTML, not 'real' programming

In fact, the company I'm currently at which makes various apps and systems for data management and display etc. has ONE woman employee out of about 15 of us.

It's just the facts of the industry I'm afraid, like it or lump it. Whether it's born out of an actual bias of interest, or more cultural I don't know. I now think there are innate difference between the sexes. I have three boys and a girl, who is the youngest (almost 2), and so she is exposed hugely to boy things, we also do our best to not do anything that's sex biased with her (like assuming she wants dolls or to look in the 'girl' isle in the toy shop). But with all of this, she still gravitates towards the pink area in the toy shop, and the jewellery and the like. It's quite odd to see.

Single Marine Salutes Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Riders

jmzero says...

"So, from this post, clearly you're spelling poorly on purpose - it's just your fantastically lame gimmick. Sad and stupid, but I guess I won't bother commenting on it further."

Wrong.

Spelling wrong on purpose was the charitable explanation. Kind of noble maybe - like you're "owning" your inability to spell by getting things so fantastically wrong that there's no other explanation. Like fat girls who wear skimpy clothes - effectively saying "I'm fat and I don't care what you think!". The other explanations for your bad spelling involve you being an idiot.

Did you read my comment I dont think you understood it , I was primerly saying people should give recognisoin through pragmatic and proactive efforts

That's a false dichotomy (and a fantastically stupid argument, congrats!). Look, a guy saluting you might not do anything for you, but it's clearly a meaningful gesture for these people (and they're the ones whose opinion matters on this). To them, it's not shallow or retarded or whatever the hell else you said. And this guy isn't choosing between saluting them or paying their medical benefits. Society isn't choosing "hey, should we have veteran's hospitals - or should we, instead, send one guy out to salute some bikers".

....Gump... Whats that about ?

I thought that would be pretty obvious. We were talking about people treating Vietnam vets poorly. I said that this fact was mentioned in a lot of pop culture. Then I asked whether you'd seen Forrest Gump. I don't think it would normally be necessary to spell out "Forrest Gump is an example of a movie featuring facts about the treatment of Vietnam vets". I think that's pretty clearly implied.

I'd say "I didn't clarify that because I didn't think you were a moron" but the fact is I did (and do!) think you're a moron. I'm just not in the habit of talking to morons and forgot the kinds of concessions I might need to make. Sorry.

Dilbert: Dead Horse

westy says...

I dont get dilbert stuff , every gag seems so stupendously obvouse its just not funny ( to me) .
I realize its a reflection on Real world office life and futility of work life things but i don't see how thats funny. and Dilbert to me comes across as really arrogant and smug ( not sure if he is meant to but if he is then that makes him harder as a character to identify with and i realize thats not his primary function in most the gags its the scene in its totality and the situation. But still I would have thought you would want the audeance to identify and like the main chachtor more)

I guess to some people it must be really funny, I know I find somethings funny that i'm sure to others are totally brainless or just don't make sense on a humor level.

Its just normaly i can appreciate how something is funny to other people, I suppose with Dilbert part of it is it highlighting things you see in your daily life and u identifying with that but then saying that I cannot really see that as "funny". More sum one just stating facts in cartoon form.

If its factual comedy like that then for me to find it amusing or worth while it would have to be about something complex and the comedy itself explains things in a way thats clear and entertaining or allows sum-one to understand something that they have not identified before sort of a comedic analogy.

Oh well it seems pretty popular and its not doing anything bad. Just it sometimes gives me a headache trying to really understand other peoples perceptions of things.

maby a Dilbert fan can tell me specifically why its funny to them ?

Oh my gosh, I keep meaning to delete this video!!
It's just something I found accidentally and it tickled my funnybone at the time -- but obviously NO ONE else's -- so I should just get rid of it!
It's just a bunch of silly people dressed as police literally cooking up a batch of fudge. Really.
And something about watching "Bringing Down the House". I think the joke is just that they're NOT doing anything dirty. Just fake cops. Making actual fudge. That's it.

If this is offensive in title alone, I should just take it down! Tell me if you think that's a good idea!

My humour .. um .. ranges. I love smart political humour, but I do fall for pretty lame stuff too. Jeez, I just saw 'Four Lions' last night and it was hilarious but I can't imagine how it got green lit -- it's the darkest black comedy I've ever seen. Shocking!

My husband says I just laugh at everything. So there ya go.

In reply to this comment by bareboards2:
Tara, sweetie, what the heck is this? We need more than "just what the title says"!!

All I can think it is some obscure (well, maybe it isn't obscure) gay reference?

I am mystified.
