CycberTruck Beats a Porsche 911

newtboy says...

?
Is that what your damaged brain came up with? Get it checked out, something’s wrong. Leave it to you to take a full written explanation of my motives for distrusting this exagerated salesmanship and not understand a word.

If Road and Track did the test and you posted it, it would be all good.

When Elon in private creates this video to show fanboys (notice no audience at the test track), it’s blatantly obvious he has not just his thumb, but his entire body weight on the scales. He’s been caught faking it time and time and time again, then failing to live up in real life with no apologies when his customers complain he didn’t provide what he promised for the exorbitant fees he charges.

Again, just look and listen…Tesla in launch mode, chirping but not spinning the tires…old unspecified Porsche at <1000rpm taking off soft, no noise at all, no tire spin, never a high rev, the 911 is not trying to win. Hardly a real test. No audience, no clock, no speed, where are the track numbers for the test (he lists the factory claims for an empty truck at the end, not actual test numbers, not the track results for this race).

I upvoted and promoted your bumper car video. It has nothing to do with you posting it, dummy, that only raises suspicions that it’s dishonest. It’s horrible because it’s clearly being dishonest to over hype and sell a questionable product….it’s a commercial….a bad dishonest commercial.

Conan: Often at his funniest when things go wrong

Imma suggest that it's not a real moment... At say, 3:16 in the reverse shot, is that rows of seats with no audience???

The Rolling Stones-Angie

Trout says...

Not to nitpick, but this really shouldn't be tagged as Live Music.

Jagger is lip-synching (nicely), Mick Taylor is fake playing Nicky Hopkins' awesome piano part, and Keith Richards isn't even onstage with the rest of the band (he appears in just a few cutaways). And, of course, there's no audience.

This is one of the promo videos that the Stones shot for the '73 single version of Angie (which is the version of the song we're hearing). Still a really cool video, and nice to have on the Sift.

Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about the Enterprise

RadHazG says...

His point was that before this ship, everything was simplistic, boring and ultimately, unimaginative. To the people first seeing the original Enterprise starship it was truly incredible because they had never before seen something like it. No audience afterwards could have quite the same reaction because now that the ship existed, nothing else could reach quite the same level because all others afterwards were derivative of the original. Something along those lines anyway. >> ^doogle:

what's his point here? It's a beautiful ship because what came before it was some sort of saucer from the <garble mumble> movie?

John Cage performs music with common household items

Krupo says...

The genius of Cage is tha the laughter - on the one hand annoying - on the other hand contributes to the soundtrack. It almost feels like it's pre-recorded and there's in fact no audience.

Judge Rips Law Student a New Poo-hole

pipp3355 says...

nah, still not convinced. for example, if we got a transcript of this entire clip, and then deleted everything that wasn't rational argument, i think you'd end up with less than 5% of the entire transcript - the remaining 95% is just irrelevant noise (please prove me wrong on this!)

also, for the ad hominem doubters.. i'd argue that personal attacks are just a special case of red herring argument - information that may be correct, but that doesn't help us move any further towards a logical conclusion for the argument at hand..

so, for example, while it may be true that the judge's reaction to the arrogant young man is an indulgent display of immature emotionalism, and her behavior probably would have been different if there was no audience, this information offers us nothing in the way of determining whether or not a judge's behavior in a court room should be impartial and unemotional.

BlogTV, Ustream.tv and Stickam (Blog Entry by dotdude)

interesting.

for me, live broadcasts are both DOOMED and THE FUTURE. i cannot decide.

But really, I prefer to receive entertainment when I actually have the time, rather than when someone else wants to throw it at me.

but... the chatroom thing and interaction is SO much better than prerecorded. we have a little indie radio show and even if ONE person sends ONE text message while we are broadcasting, it is INFINTELY COOL! "yeah, big ups to tomas on the SMS, this one's for you...." so coool. Maybe we can hook up a studio webcam to these services?

i think "podcasts" are the worst things... they are just dead radio. no pictures, no audience, just a fucking tape of a fake radio show that happened more than 24 hours ago. Crap.

The Daily Show - Science vs faith on "An Inconvient Truth"

choggie says...

....pick the disenters that look like the biggest morons, use a cadre of goons, spin, and rhetoric to topple the scales, the facts so deftly piled high with the "experts" stamp of approval, oh and forgot about the most important part, give little or no audience to the dissenting members of the oceanagraphic, meteorological, and solar phenomenologists, and you have the entity that is , Global Warming.......

and the cycle continues, as do the cycles of our planet, and of time, space, and matter..........
