He messed with the wrong person
Not fake. Watch it on slow motion on YouTube. She got him - deservedly so. Go 'murica!
Wave tank demo showing impact of coastal defenses
Without a computer like Deep Thought, calculating dynamic brownian motion at large scales is impossible, so modeling is the only reasonable option.
Granted, we live on just such a computer, but we're incapable of reading it's output.
Original (1989) Prince of Persia reimagined in 3D!
Yep. It would had been better if it was in motions too!
verrrrrrry nice!
B-Dash & Jaja Vankova - World of Dance Boston 2017
That is the first live video I ever thought was filmed in stop-motion.

ABC News: Purity Balls: Lifting the Veil on Special Ceremony
Sorry, but that's just silly. Limited sexual experience doesn't mean you can't be aware that it's bad sex, you can still be unhappy with it but not know why. You might also think that it's just the way it is.
I wonder how many long suffering wives have just lain there while their clueless husbands mindlessly plowed away, they'll go through the motions while quietly waiting for it to be done. All the while assuming this is just part of their wifely duties.
I've heard a lot about how these days, despite our sex soaked culture there are women who have never really learned about their bodies and can't even get themselves off. And to be fair, the clueless husbands are often no better educated than they are.
I don't know, it seems pretty arbitrary to me either way. Actually the best argument for it IMO is that if you only have sex with one person, you aren't going to know if it's good or terrible. You won't have anything to compare it to and therefore something to make your life more unhappy if you think it's bad; one less issue to divorce for as well. Similarly, maybe if you were poor and couldn't afford fancy food, consciously avoiding ever trying the things you couldn't regularly afford so you would never be unhappy with not having it. It would be a question in the back of your mind, but not a source of unhappiness.
It would also have been nice to have some interview questions about how the sons are taught and treated by the same parents.
HUMAN FACE Puppet
This would be even cooler if the puppeteer's camera was used for facial motion capture and then a CGI animated face was displayed on the screen.
Unreal Engine's Human CGI is So Real it's Unreal
what you saw was a mesh with a skin shader rendering in real-time so that's how fast it renders. didn't look terribly hi-res, the real advancement here is the quality of the skin shader(for realtime) and the fidelity of the facial rig, having proper face target shapes all blending together to get complex movements with skin compression/stretching/wrinkling at this level have historically been out of reach for anything but pre-rendered cgi.
They can probably drop libraries of mocap data on this with face markers that match those manipulation points you see in the video, and animators can use them to animate, or clean up/change the motion capture data.
and the skin textures/pore detail/face model are not a technological achievement as much as the work of a skilled artist, and the deformations are the result of someone who really knows their anatomy.
since there is no animation in this video, no performance, it's hard to judge how realistic it feels. the real trick is always seeing it animated.
Sorry, not quite there yet. There is no way anyone would actually look at that and think "oh, it's a video of a human".
The uncanny valley is one of those instances where the closer you get to perfection, the more obvious the flaws are.
But in terms of a video game character, this is very, very good.
I would love to know a few more details about it:
- how expensive is the rendering? We're just seeing a face on its own. If we drop it into an actual scene, will it still run?
- how well does it animate/lip sync?
Unreal Engine's Human CGI is So Real it's Unreal
In motion, there's subtle clues that tell you it's not quite human, BUT, if you were to manipulate it into an expression and take a screenshot... I don't think I'd be able to tell it wasn't real. It's the muscle range, the way the wrinkles appear, the way the blood coloration changes in response to the tightness of the skin, the pores, the subsurface scattering, the facial hairs, etc... incredibly convincing on a whole new level, even extremely close up, which is where the illusion normally breaks down. Very very impressive.
The History Of Electronic Dance Music
I'm not sure if it is really considered "electronic dance music", but that sound of music always reminds me of the tunes I listened to in my youth: tracker tunes (.MOD, .IT, .S3M) from the likes of Purple Motion, and Skaven and FutureCrew.

How Not to Land an Orbital Rocket Booster
Even the rocket that ran out of fuel exploded! This is def rocket science. Although you would think they would create a more specialized platform like one that could erect a silo around the rocket. Those short legs look like the biggest fail point and even after landing it looks like the rocking motion of the water will tip it over.
Understood, but I was talking about after it had landed, then toppled. Should have been clearer. ; )
4K 60fps Photo Realism With Unreal 4 Engine
I mostly agree, but I did think the static interior shots were photo realistic, but I don't have a 4k screen.
If you smoothed out the jerky camera motion, the last scene had climbed out of the uncanny valley, imo....except the flame.
This is a really good example of showing what video game graphics are really good at (static scenes with hard materials) and what they're not so good at but getting better (natural organic materials, humans with complex animations).
That said, as impressive as it is, we are still a long way off "photo realism".

Pres. Trump Tweets Vid of Himself Physically Attacking CNN
Jesus Christ. The only thing more pathetic than a man-baby president posting a video like this to twitter like some 12 year old internet tough guy is the ensuing media reaction to it:
He's inciting violence against reporters!
It seems like a physical threat!
Much ado about {makes jerk-off motion}.
