Cyclist Uses Aerodynamics Over Leg Strength

Dog Feels Petting Instead of Abuse For The First Time

ulysses1904 says...

I agree, these videos tear me up (both definitions of "tear"). I'm not bothered by watching videos of some moped rider in Bangkok get wiped out at an intersection but these videos have an effect on me. I can't watch those videos of a happy dog being adopted from a shelter because all I can hear is the dogs barking in the background that are still in cages. We have 4 rescue dogs in the house and I wish I had the resources to have more. Upvoted anyway.

Sorry, this kind of thing upsets me more than makes me happy the pup is better now, because I had to see it terrified of being touched first.
It reminds me of the aspca commercials with abused animals, trying to touch your heart and get your donation, but that's abusive of the very people they are soliciting, animal lovers.
My wife blocked her sister on Facebook because she constantly posted similar videos and pictures, bumming my wife out to near tears daily.
I can't blame the poster, he labeled it well, but I still wasn't prepared for the screaming terror.
I need to go watch some more playing baby pygmy hippo now.

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — A Norton Shores man was arrested Sunday after leading police on a chase on his moped.

Norton Shores Police were dispatched to a home on Reneer Avenue west of Leon Street after Richard Shear, 28, allegedly threatened his mother and girlfriend with a sledgehammer and a knife and tried to set the house on fire.

Sources tell FOX 17 that the suspect’s mother called police after he threatened her with the weapons.

He`s accused of threatening his girlfriend too, but she told FOX 17 that never happened.

Sources also tell FOX 17 Shears attempted to light the house on fire by pouring gasoline on his landscaping then throwing a candle.

They say he also slashed an SUV’s tire before hopping on the moped and fleeing.

As FOX 17 took a closer look at the incident, we learned Shear has a history of drunk driving arrests, but we’re told he is also seeking help for mental health issues.

We’re told Shear, just like many other servicemen and women, suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a result of his time spent serving overseas in Iraq during his eight years in the Marines.

Those close to him tell us he has been struggling with PTSD, abusing alcohol to prevent dealing with the deep seeded issues and hitting rock bottom on Sunday.

Police say the chase ended back at Shear’s home when he tried running back inside but was arrested by police.

His bond has been set at $100,000.

Is It Possible Pop A Wheelie On A Moped With 4 Passengers On

Payback says...

>> ^BicycleRepairMan:

Technically, thats 3 passengers and one driver. Pretty impressive and dangerous-looking tho.

It's arguable there are NO passengers.

"A passenger is a person who travels in a vehicle, but bears little or no responsibility for the tasks required for that vehicle to arrive at its destination or otherwise operate the vehicle."

They're ALL involved in the tasks required to operate the vehicle.

Swampy, I had an English teacher say to a prized student once "GOSH I wish I could just bottle you up to show other students how to act!" I'm unsure why, perhaps I though I should be emulating her, but that metaphor has stuck with me for a long time.

Since then, I've used it to deal with, among other things, loss. I've done this with a lot of people in my life (usually only people I don't plan on seeing anymore: ex-girlfriends, childhood friends whom I've lost touch with, and any relatives/friends who are now deceased). I do a bit more than remember the "good times," they're characters in my mind that I can call on and say "What would __________ do if he/she were here to make me feel better?"

Very recently, three weeks ago to be precise, my grandfather passed away. It's the first time I've had to deal with a serious loss like that since losing religion myself, and I found solace using my "bottle" method. My grandpa joked around constantly, often times in awkward situations (this past Thanksgiving, he told me a joke about a guy "fucking a dog in the ass" with my little nephews near by). And, as weird as it sounds, I found myself at his funeral imagining him hanging out with me saying something like "Well shit, when you gotta go!"

You can probably guess what Samwise would do if he saw you moping around the house. My advice is to use that to help you through your tough time. Hope this helps!

I do not want kids because of the liability. Blue shirt could of been killed, he missed that by inches. Kids are too stupid, all I would do is worry.

And yet the vast majority of kids in first world countries - even the badly brought up ones - survive to adulthood. It easy to look at stuff like this and say 'he could easily have been killed' but in reality, it's pretty unlikely. As a parent it would be for you to teach them how to deal with the world. The worst thing you could do is insulate the kid from all danger because then they don't understand that some things really can be dangerous, and they go and do something like this. I would never have gotten on that roundabout because something in the back of my mind would have said 'hang on a minute...'. And that's what parenting is.

Don't get me wrong, the thought of being a parent terrifies me, but I'd like to think any kid of mine would be far too busy in front of a computer to be out doing stupid stuff like this...

In the US, the Left Asks Politely; In Europe, They Do This

NetRunner says...

@radx, who's doing the protesting? The political left, or the political right?

My main point is that the left of other countries is reacting to getting kicked in the teeth by kicking back. Around here it mostly responds by moping, bitching about Obama, and planning to not vote as some sort of protest.
