BOOM! Tetris for Jeff
How do they do it? I think they start in second gear, and they NEVER play on Mame.
20 Games That Defined the Texas Instruments TI-99/4(A)
Nice. I was gaming since Atari 2600 and arcade games at maybe 5? And then my gaming mojos started to go down like a decade ago. These days, I just play Uno, Junkyard, etc. in IRC. Ha.
BTW, you can play these TI99/4A and other systems' games in MAME these days since MESS merged over a year ago.
Well yeah, just naming my favs. Amazing watching that, then playing Fallout 4 in 3-D tonight. Been gaming since I was like, 2.
80s arcade with the Oculus Rift
this is a much better idea then the whole movie theater crap they have going atm. As a mame fanatic, I love it.

As a MAME box builder and the proprietor of the 80s channel on VideoSift, this hits all the right buttons for me.
I see what I did ^ there
Pixel Pioneers: A Brief History of Graphics, Part One
This is why I have mame with all the arcades downloaded..I love to just browse through games by release date and experience the changes in audio and video from the beginning to modern day 2d.

Definitely not going to be competition for the Xbox 720 - but some people are more interested in casual gaming (Angry birds) or retro gaming (MAME) and this will be perfect for that.
Also I think people are a tired of all the novel controls - Kinnect, numchucks, wands, boards, guitars. Some people just want to play games with their thumbs.
It's interesting that the controller is not really "disruptive". No love for us lefties as usual.
Using the tablets/phones out there as controllers makes a lot of sense.
But really that controller needs a bit of work.
These Android consoles will do well based on their cost. Sony and Microsoft have only sold about 70m units each I believe. There's scope to sell to far more people in a different part of the market.
That said I'm playing Far Cry 3 at the moment and a magnificent experience like that might not be seen too often on these new platforms.

The original Gauntlet was an arcade machine. You can get the rom for MAME.

I've been playing it off and on for a couple of weeks. Good mind numbing fun. Reminds me of Gauntlet. Wizard needs food!
Do you know if there is a version of Gauntlet for the Mac? I loved to play that on my cousin's old puter many moons ago.

Awesome tech-kit is awesome!
you never know.. the I-PAC encoder I used for a MAME machine was like 40 bucks (http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html) and is somewhat similar. I backed them largely since it seems like they are doing a lot of community stuff with it Time to build a hand-drawn control panel on the wall to activate things in my office.

Great idea. I went to their kickstarter page (Really should have had a link in this), with the intention of backing and getting one, but as a non-US person, it'd cost $45 for me to get one.
That seems like a lot considering once production ramps up it's going to cost them VERY little per board to make these.
And seeing as it'd be something I'd muck around with for a week or so with the kids and then probably tire of.

however to use this spot the ghosts can not see you go in.
>> ^ant:
Hmm, it looks like you need a specific pattern and moves to make that happen. I tried MAME's Pac-Man and went directly to that spot, but one of the ghosts got me.
Ah!

Allows you to play arcade games (you have to find the game ROMs though -- if you know how to get torrents you can find them)

God I love Bubble Bobble.
I still find myself firing up MAME every now and then and having a game. Total classic.
