Alison Krauss - Down to the River to Pray

cybrbeast says...

The shot with the bird flock lifting off from the river was surreal, beautiful. The music is great too, I remember the scene with the music in Oh Brother made the hairs in the back of my neck stand up.

Afraid of Flying.. any help - seriously! (Wings Talk Post)

Constitutional_Patriot says...

Make sure you bring some LSD to help calm u down for the flight

seriously though I'll never forget my first flight lesson.. that moment that the aircraft first lifted off the ground.. I looked down at the rooftops thinking omg that'll hurt like hell to fall in this little tin can if the engine gave out right now. I felt scared for a couple seconds but then I just focused on the beauty of being airborne. Just let yourself go and focus on something that makes you happy. The fear will subside.

Lifting off for the first time in something you've built with your own hands has to be the best feeling in the world.

I would think that landing in (as aposed to dying in) something that you had built with your own hands would be the best feeling.

AMD Duron Vaporizes after severe overclocking

NetRunner says...

I like how the heatsink was just resting on top of the CPU, and could just be lifted off without popping a clip of any kind.

They used the hole to fire a compressed air gun at the bottom of the chip, that's what the hole in the table was for.

Very fake.

Has Videosift become aggressive? (Wtf Talk Post)

guessandcheck says...

Maybe it's me, but there also seems to be more videos being posted that incite rage. A lot of political attacks and racism/injustice have caused people to be a little more vulgar from my calculations. I hearby propose a Cute-Athon to lift off all this bad karma...you ignorant fucking fleshpeddeler (i like bandwagons).

Can bronzies *quality?

Mythbusters - Water Heater Rocket

Grimm says...

If you get a chance track down and watch the full episode. They first tried it on a 6gal tank filled with water. When that failed it was kind of a dud compared to this...the seams at the bottom failed and all the steam released but no left off. For the second attempt it was a 30gal and this time they only filled it 80% with water and got a spectacular result and this was without a little house covering it so even though you did not have the destruction of the house you had a real nice shot of the lift-off on the high speed camera. This video shows the third attempt with a 52gal and the house built around it since part of the "myth" was that the blast would be strong enough to go through a house.

Until you've tried the techniqe,Gluonium,
you're not highly qualified to make such a comment. There's nothing wrong with self inquiry, especially in an effort to relieve the mind of negative thought patterns.

What I like about the technique, is that it encourages the individual to search within in a simple, easy way. They can do the inquiry on their own, at any time, so they are not dependent on others to help them see how they may be stuck in negative thoughts.

Everyone can benefit from becoming free from negativity. I'll admit to getting stuck there, too. I always feel like a load has been lifted off me when I let negative thoughts go.

.and the award for realistic gunplay in a motion picture....

dproc says...

There is a mythbusters episode just about the "lifted off the ground by a shotgun myth" and it IS a myth. (episode 38 - they revisit it) I speak from military experience with weapons too. The bear may have jumped by its own reflexes, but it was not by the effect of the slug. Obscenesimian's physics statement was correct. Equal and oposite reaction. If it lifted a person being shot, it would lift the shooter too. The mythbusters episode clearly demonstrates this if there is any doubt. They even use a .50 cal and it doesnt do anything. Penetration and destructive power is another thing (devastating). But it doesnt lift anything. FACT. A really good clip though, I agree, and much more realistic then most hollywood efforts. This isnt meant as a flame to any other posters either, please dont think im attacking any comments. Just pointing this out. (This myth bugs me.)

Pickpocket entertainer robs four guys blind onstage

rembar says...

Like I said, don't you complain to me about the ending. The last bit with the underpants was obviously a magic trick, it's a variation of the Baffling Bra - Arno himself even talks about the trick. But everything else is all his own lifting off uncompliant audience members, not plants.

And obviously they know he's taking their stuff, he's quite upfront about it - the entertainment is how easily he does it without them being aware of when and how he does it.
