"Not Now, Not Ever!" (Gillard Misogyny Speech)

Asmo says...

Bah, she's a two faced manipulator who pulled a cheap stunt (ie. crying discrimination/misogyny) because her popularity was in the shitcan. If you saw her operate during the Howard years in opposition, she was one of the most effective attack dogs the ALP had. She didn't allow being a woman to slow her down then, but as soon as the opinion polls fell away, suddenly the mean ol' men are treating her badly... /eyeroll

This is the same woman who doesn't believe in marriage equality...

Discrimination is okay as long as you're not the one being discriminated against... So fuck her and fuck her sniveling "Oh poor me" bullshit. Equality is something everyone should have, not just a convenience to be exploited for political gain.

I'm not sure what to make of this. On one hand, I approve of the message.

On the other hand, every time I hear Julia Gillard speak I want to drive a screwdriver through my ear drums

that cracks me up. she moves to a better country....(probably because of the better opportunities her father would enjoy)

..only to advocate tearing the gov't down.

Nice. I especially liked that bit with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

I never cared much for Amy Poehler, but I've been binge-watching Parks and Recreation, and now I'm a big fan.

(LMFAHS moment from the season 5 episode I watched last night: "See you tomorrow, Jeremy!" I hope someone gets that reference. I laughed out loud.)

This is one of the all-time best SNL skits ever. Now if I could only find the other great one from this same episode: Robert Blake hosting the Little Rascals' reunion, with Mary Gross as Alfalfa and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Darla. Pure genius.

Tina Fey Slams Rep. Todd Akin Over His Rape Comments

quantumushroom says...

Even the best-built cars must undergo crash tests. Your sincerity to the cause of political correctness must be crash-tested the same way.

In case anyone is losing sleep, I find plenty of women funny. Maria Bamford, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kristen Wiig are the tops.

In quantumushroom's defense (shudder), I actually think he was making a reference to last week's 30 Rock episode.

I really wish someone would explain to me why people feel the need to defend QM. He says these hateful, racist, and incorrect things consistently, and gets roasted for it, yet people still jump to his defense all the time.
why?
