Jim Says Christian Leaders Will Be Murdered If Trump Loses

BSR says...

Considering that religion is a spinoff from the bible and the bible was created by artists, then their remains a puzzle.

Simply: God is love
God would be the character name of the person reading the book.

You are the creator of your world. Believe in yourself.

All you need is love. -Beatles

Love: Ingredients - Brain. Heart. Courage. -Wizard of Oz

Love with purpose.

So, instead of calling yourself, "GOD", I think "newt" would be perfect! After all you created it.

Be the star that others wish upon.

All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon -Pink Floyd

question: What good has religion done that could not have been done better without it? Be specific please, with examples.

Sarah Silverman Loves America | Real Time with Bill Maher

moonsammy says...

I really can't fathom being upset about the King Tut bit. While there are still Egyptians certainly, they don't remotely resemble the culture during Tut's time. Who exactly could there possibly be alive today who would feel at all upset or belittled by that act? Mind-boggling.

Fixperts - A Button Fastener for 82 year old Tom

transmorpher says...

I'm sorry hear that buddy. My mother has been wheelchair bound since I was a toddler, so I feel you.
All the best.

Dog Feels Petting Instead of Abuse For The First Time

transmorpher says...

It's not about guilt, it's about extending the emotions you already feel for all of the other animals, to the last ~5 animals.

It's not about history. It's about the future.

I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm trying to make you aware that you have the power to change the status quo.

(and no you don't have to wear tie dye, you don't even have to tell anyone lol, your shopping list is what makes the difference)

newtboy said:

If humans didn't eat and use animals, we would eradicate them as competitors for resources and hazards to our safety. That is the way of man, always has been.
No attempt to instill guilt will change that, it's more likely to spur it on out of spite for those dispensing the guilt.

The Julie Ruin - Run Fast (Official Lyric Video)

WeedandWeirdness says...

Enoch, no, I was not offended by the down vote, just his way of expressing his dislike, which now does make sense if he was just trying to be a smart ass. Same with me, with my smart ass remark back. Sorry that I didn't feel at all respected with his comment, that is why I presumed it as being offensive. Then his following actions proved to be spiteful. I never attacked his intelligence. I think this is a misunderstanding, but I won't tear others down to make my point.

I will check out your link, and I appreciate your comments, kindness, and advice. You rock doll!!

@WeedandWeirdness

do you identify with a video so strongly as to become offended and/or irritated if someone downvotes?

@chicchorea actually showed respect by stating this video wasn't his deal.many here don't,they just downvote.

to say that chicchorea's original comment was intended to be insulting and rude may be true, but it is a presumption, with zero evidence to support your presumption.

i took it as him being a smart ass and berating himself for lacking the discipline to make it to the end of the video before down-voting.

my claim is also a presumption, based on very little.
which of our presumptions are more valid?

you seem a decent sort, and this is just a misunderstanding.
i am with @chicchorea and @newtboy on their opinions on this band.

i would say punk has changed, but i have been digging these guys for awhile:

to each their own,all based on their talents and proclivities.i look forward to your video submissions @WeedandWeirdness

"You know how much you love, respect and want to protect every dog and cat in the world? You know how much your heart breaks when you see a picture of a dog in a shelter who is going to be killed? You know how you feel when you see photos of piles of dead dogs and cats who are going to be used for fur? You know how enraged you get when you see a photo of a dog or cat who has been beaten to death? That’s how vegans feel about all animals. Every animal who is exploited and murdered for food, clothing, entertainment and “research.” We don’t distinguish between dogs and cats and other animals. If you allowed yourself to feel the deep suffering that billions of animals endure for your pleasure, you’d be vegan, too. And you might understand why vegans work so hard to end the animal holocaust." —Gary Smith

newtboy said:

No thanks. Not interested in silly Veganist propaganda.

Besides, I can see from the title that it makes the mistaken assumption that people's pets shouldn't be eaten. Maybe I wouldn't eat my dog, but if someone else wants it's carcass, they're welcome to it. Eating it is FAR better than letting it rot, or burning it.

West Indian Girl-What Are You Afraid Of

eric3579 says...

I lost myself inside someone else
I couldn't see the lines between her and me
On a darker road, the fear I've shown
With eyes of stone, he walks alone
What are you afraid of?
All the years fade away
What are you made of?
From the ties that hold us down
What are you fighting for?
To feel them all
What are you dying for?
To be free
Who tonight will change your life
To jump on a plane and land a
Thousand miles away
Just to see what we came to be
Inside my eyes
There's no chance of losing
When there's no chance at all
As time goes by, I forget why
From a distant view it might still be true
There's a part of me that lives for you.

Steve Harvey Announces Wrong Winner of Miss Universe 2015

VoodooV says...

Feel bad all around.

Feel bad that they still have ridiculous contests like this.

Feel bad for Colombia and Philippines.

Feel bad for the committee who thought Steve Harvey was a great idea and who are probably out of a job.

Hillarious that that piece of shit exits as quick as he can.

What goes around comes around

gorillaman says...

So despite many of these encounters seeming like they could have been better resolved without the interference of random strangers, this illustrates surprisingly well what ought to be a universal practice.

Feels are all well and good, but you don't have to descend into the pig sty of emotions and sentimentality to recognise the utilitarian principle that whenever you can pay a small cost to give someone a substantially larger gain then humanity makes a net profit. You're enriching the entire world; and you live in the world, so that's usually a good idea.

Kindness? Pah. Karma? Pah. Game theory and rational cooperation? Yes.

Anti-vaxx mom reversal - After all 7 kids got whooping cough

artician says...

I don't have kids yet, but I can attest to being someone who thought the anti-vaxination stance had some validity.
Please don't confuse me for a moron though; I understand the benefits of vaccinations and my perspective was solely formed on distrust from the system, and the initial ties to autism.
A short period of research and introspection and it was clear that, aside from the systemic trust issues, the claims were unwarranted.
Makes me feel like an enigma in the human race. It seems like no one else wants to take the time and re-educate themselves on difficult subjects. Also makes me feel pretty all-right, being an actual human who's capable of that, and isn't just some lame astroturf projection.

Asmo said:

I used to think anti-vaxxers were just morons but she talks about the fear of trusting in a system where certain fringes have exploited FUD to prey upon people who's only thought is the safety of their kids.

And only when the worst occurs, these poor bastards realise that the real danger is contracting the disease, and the FUD is distracting them from it...

Hopefully, this might leads others to reconsider their stance.

Israel bombs U.N. school shelter, murdering children

Sagemind says...

So... if we are against Israel for their violence, which makes us anti-Jewish..., does that make us anti-Semitic? Cause popular opinion says being anti-Semitic makes you pro-Natzi and an enemy to peace.

See where I'm going here? I'm anti-violence and pro-peace...,
So how can I be Anti-Israel and still be on the side of "Popular opinion" in a post Hitler era?

I feel like all the propaganda is twisting us and using our own beliefs against us. Either choice makes you feel like we are bad people.

They are using our own experiences against us, using the past to twist everything around. It's almost a woe-is-me attitude.

Young American Jew Stands up for Palestine

newtboy says...

What do you expect...speak against Israel, or for Palestine, get harassed, arrested, beaten, strangled, hogtied, and 'disappeared'. His face already looked horribly swollen and miss-shaped as they shoved him in the truck...probably the last time we'll ever see him. I would guess we'll see an announcement that he committed suicide in jail in the next few days.
It seems to me that Israel itself is doing it's utmost to give it's detractors ammunition in their argument against supporting Israel's actions. I can't say I have ever heard of a move by Israel I could agree with, or that wasn't antagonistically bullying it's neighbors, then whining and crying like a 3 year old spoiled rotten little girl if anyone returns the favor.
For a group of people that were viciously attacked and decimated, they certainly have no qualms about doing the same to others. They long ago lost the moral high ground, as their insistence on doing to others what they complain was done to them has made them the 'bad guy' consistently.
I'm not an anti-Semitic, but I am totally an anti-Zionist. I don't feel at all alone in that sentiment.

Britney Spears - Alien (NO AUTOTUNE)

Sycraft says...

The thing is, if you are a good musician, it is hard to be out of tune. It will actually bother you. Being in tune is just something you do, you just hear it, feel it, all the time.

#LikeAGirl -- attitudes exposed and transformed

Fairbs says...

What I got out of the video is that 'like a girl' is most often derogatory and that it starts to impact women through their (for lack of a better term or for lack of knowing better) formative years. It can then be a self-fulfilling prophesy and make them feel lesser. All of this is not good and we should try not to use these terms.

However much the video is contrived to make an impact is unimportant. This concept does exist and is well known. I know I've used the term to describe a man that ran 'funny' and I know it was a shitty thing to do. Probably making me feel better in the moment.

I think that as we grow up, we do a lot of shitty things because we don't know better. As I grow older, I want to become better and understand things more. Now into my 40's, I still think I have room for improvement. And when it comes down to it, does it really matter if girls, in general, can't run as fast as guys? I think it matters more that if you want to run fast, you try and do the best you can and you don't even have to have the goal of being faster if you simply enjoy running. There is always going to be someone faster than you unless you are the fastest man or the fastest woman.

Anyway, what's your take on my comments as far as mansplaining goes?

bareboards2 said:

Fuck all, that is a shit load of mansplaining that happened in the last two long posts. Holy hell on a handstick.

Next time the topic of "mansplaining" comes up elsewhere, and folks need an example, the last two comments are the gold standard.

I know that this comment will offend those two posters, and those who think like they do. I'm not going to argue back and forth about it though, because I have learned that is a waste of time. If I thought I could move things, I would engage. I'm older and wiser now.

Besides, I'm offended, too, so we're even.

[edit]
Actually, what I really am is sad. Sad at the cluelessness. The depth of the cluelessness. I started out offended, and wrote the above. But the more I think on it, I'm just sad at the complete lack of understanding. Sad at their need to argue. Sad at the lack of emotional empathy.

And happy at the growing number of people who "get it."

There is hope for the future.
