Thank God You're Here - Amazing Aussie Improv

I liked it, but it seems to me that not all of it was improv. Look at the part about heroism. The reporter rehearsed his reaction a bit too fast and not well enough. Upvote though.

How dare you question the realism of our fine show! How dare you sir... I throw the gauntlet at you sir...

But I'm pretty darn sure it's all improv, well, everyone else in the scene has their script they try to work to, effectively giving prompts for the improvising guest to play off, and I'm sure has ready to go reactions for the most likely answers, but I wouldn't say they'd had him in that room before then.

Heroes or Victims? (Sift Talk Post)

by your definition the guy that fired the rocket might be a hero too.

heroism has overtones of tragedy and stupidity. i am not so sure i want to be a hero.

leaving 3 kids without a mother is more on the tragic side i think, especially in an illegal war.

i really feel for the family, this sucks, but damn, this is why you shouldn't join the army and agree to serve in whatever war some politician thinks is profitable.

lots of iraqis dead too you know, many of them not in the army. sorry to be harsh in a thread about a single instance but it's for the sake of debate, i am not hating on the dead here.

San Diego mayor stands up for gay marriage

oxdottir says...

I don't know, but I suspect this guy might be expressing a huge change of heart. He seems like millions of Americans who were once certain that homosexuals were perverted fringe elements with no right to the "sacrament" of marriage. Now, the humanity of his constituents who love someone of their own sex has been brought home to him, and he has to align his actions with his conscience. Having to go back on a campaign promise as part of a change of conscience strikes me as pretty emotional. For all he knows, he is committing political suicide; I'm sure he's going to get some emotional and hate-filled responses--probably some of the respondents will question his own sexuality.

A similar change happened to my own father, who was an avowed "homo-hater" until a couple of his best friends got AIDS, came-out as gay, and yet continued to be the men he had always known.

I think this video shows the quiet heroism that is the force for social change.

You were inside the tower also?.. where were you in relation to the twin towers when the attack happened?... when did you appear on the scene?.. I know the manhattan area.. I used to live on 89th st.

I'm not claiming that I know for sure what happened. If you all want me to shutup about here, then fine. I'm not exactly making any friends by holding this viewpoint and personally I hope you all are correct and I'm wrong but some things just don't add up and it bothers the hell out of me. If the government wouldn't be so secretive, suppress full and independant investigations, withhold/alter/destroy evidence then I would have never even considered foulplay, but with all this and hearing testimony of account from firsthand responders like that of Mr. Rodriguez while they refused to use his testimony in the release of the analysis, what the hell is one supposed to think?

In reply to this comment by thesnipe:
"So, what do you think about the firefighters and that head janitor that went through the north tower.. he's claiming that a bomb went off about several seconds before the plane hit.. and also claims of people being hurt by some of these explosions... at the base levels.. I'm not making this up.. they were there 1st hand ... reports of multiple explosions from the hero firefighters.. they must be crazy loons huh? What the hell is wrong with you ppl? I suppose you can't get out of the denial phase. This was all over CSPAN two days ago."

I was there too, first hand so don't go disputing the obvious. It's so nice to sit back and think that some guy on youtube has the facts of a conspiracy to demolish a building from a structural engineer standpoint. For this one claim of people saying they heard explosions there are HUNDREDS of others who dispute it first hand. Ya know people who call 9-1-1 reporting that there are gunshots when in fact their neighbor just lit off a firecracker, it's the same damn syndrome. I know people who were there from t minus 1 hour, 99% know what they saw and heard, they decide to stand next to reason as oppossed to claims from some whackjobs without the proper intelligence to analyze an incident that the most elite of our engineers and physicists struggle to determine the magnitude of. Lucky isn't making any shit up, if reason and physics is shit, then your personal attacks stand to clarify your comments at shit as well.

Is it THAT hard to believe that actual physics could come into play and bring down a building exposed to the trauma that WTC 7 did? Noooo it's some secret explosive technology developed in some dark ass lab by engineers who were disgruntled by normal existing technologies and contractors in the field of demolition. And don't start calling me out on the heroism of the firefighters that may have seen or heard these "explosions", I was there and know the agony and display of heroism EVERY single fireman/police officer and EMT went through. In the heat of the moment what a minority of what people think they see and heard can easily be misinterpreted.

Ya know what it probably is, all the people who were there were brainwashed as well by another secret government only technology. That would explain why I, and the hundreds of emergency response workers that were with me want to debunk this conspiracy theory.

Oh yeah and if something I said doesn't make perfect sense, excuse me but it's a difficult day for those who are busy paying respects to the friends and comrades they lost rather than coming up with useless and dumbass theories.

'Baghdad ER': Saluting Valor On the Medical Front Lines
By Tom Shales Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, May 20, 2006;
To read political motives into "Baghdad ER," a poignant and powerful documentary about military medical personnel working in Iraq, would be to insult and diminish not only the film but also its subjects. Even so, the right wing has started flapping already, and the Pentagon reputedly finds the movie worrisome.
Truth is always worrisome to those with vested interests. Those who would denigrate the film -- which is a lesson in humanity, not politics -- presumably have chosen to ignore the printed prologue on the screen: "This film is a tribute to the heroism and sacrifice of the soldiers who are the patients and staff of the 86th Combat Support Hospital" -- men and women working feverishly and around the clock to put wounded soldiers back together amid the horror of a bedeviling war.
"Baghdad ER," ...deals far more in actions than in words -- the sometimes desperate actions of medical personnel who repair wounds, alleviate suffering and try to restore the spirits of soldiers who arrive in the hospital with bodies riddled by shrapnel or with severely mangled limbs.
Among the first of innumerable stinging images: a nurse carrying a severed arm from the operating table to a plastic disposal bag. Says a corporal working with the team: "We do our best, our level best, to make sure that our people survive and make it back to their homes." The prologue states that 90 percent of the American soldiers wounded in the war survive, patched up at the Baghdad hospital and flown to Germany for more thorough and elaborate care. And the patients include not only American soldiers but also Iraqi citizens.
