Girl Taken from Pot Smoking Parents & Murdered by Foster Mom

Real Life Peter Griffin

yellowc says...

Upvote for the effort, I don't think you could really get more precise than that outside of movie magic.

Just doesn't have the comedic flair for it though, should probably just stick to doing scenes from the show and switching off to normal when he's done so it's short and sweet.

I agree,
Take BF3 for example, if they went all the way trying to put digital photo skins on the models, it would look like zombies fighting. I am also of the strong belief that until you get the human emotions on a face down to a science, you should still stick with cartoonish characters instead. NHL 96 tried to look realistic back in on the PC; they stapled digital hockey players pictures on the low-polygon models, and boy, did it look like we were playing with lifeless Sears mannequins or what?

I love WoW models for the same absurd reason. Given the polygon low count of WoW, regardless of your MMO inclination, you have to admit that the art direction in that game is nothing short of phenomenal.

There's just something about Rockstar's mocap that simply looks wrong. It always looks out of place and off-putting to me

Agreed, the environment and vehicles are beautifully rendered, but the characters look like crap.

I think it's more of a style. If it looks more realistic they lose a certain flair or ridiculousness which they like. Sort of like World of Warcraft which people whine about but I love how it looks.

It's not the lack of realism that bothers me, it just looks .... bad.
And it really jars with the environments.

TF2* doesn't look realistic but it still looks awesome.

yeah, I'm valves bitch. I'm comfortable with that

Prometheus: a Spoiler-free Mini-review (Scifi Talk Post)

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

I completely agree. In most ways, TV SF is better than blockbuster films lately. They have smaller budgets and more time to develop the characters and the story. >> ^JAPR:

Thanks for the review, looks like I'm passing this one up until later on, I got me some Firefly to watch.
It's really disappointing how much the meaningful parts of commercialized arts (film, music, even video games) have become increasingly saturated with lowest-common-denominator-type filler; everything is more about the flair and the polish instead of the substance now.

World's Best Bartender

Skeeve says...

I realize you're being facetious, so don't take this as criticism (I completely agree with the sentiment: flair bartending doesn't really impress me as a useful thing for a bar.)

Your comment got me thinking and I find it really interesting in the different views people have regarding speed when it comes to service in bars or restaurants.

I've seen plenty of Germans send a beer back to the bar for taking less than a minute. From their point of view a beer can't be properly poured in that time. Counter to that, many North Americans would consider a few minutes wait for their drink to be bad service.

Likewise, many of my Canadian and American friends would consider a restaurant to have bad service if you have to signal the waiter to come to your table, or if things take longer than they are used to, while waiters in places like the Czech Republic, Cyprus or Greece will almost never come to your table without a signal and most people expect to spend a few hours at the restaurant.

I think it's fascinating how our environment changes our views on this and how many little problems can be caused by ignored cultural differences.>> ^Gilsun:

He's not that good a bartender... took him nearly 4 minutes to make those 3 drinks and 1 of them wasn't even the right amount!!! Needs to work on his efficiency

10,000 Singers Belt Out “Ode to Joy”

Kalle says...

On one hand its absolutely awesome to see 10.000+ japanese people sing in german about the brotherhood of man... add to that all the associations like the hymn of the european union or even clockwork orange..

But on the other hand it just has this north korean flair of a mass parade...
