The cat looks to be pretty fat so maybe not. But my cat (easily as big as that dog) would beat the shit out of that dog for even trying anything. I think you need to dial back with the drugs...but if a dog wants to kill a cat, which is rarely the case, the cat's dead pretty darn fast.

Must be a girl dog - paternal instinct and all. I had a doberman, dumbest dog in the world, but super loyal and placid when he wasnt being an absolute nutbag running around the yard due to boredom.

You know, i sort of half notice in slow motion that half of the time, when i'd ordinarily think my dog and another dog were getting a bit frisky, they look like a bit like they're practising but making sure not to connect, or land a bite. Interesting.

Also, @jmd, at the beach near me, loads and loads of all different sorts of dogs get together and play. There's a bit of a roughing every so often, but no appendage loss, and i'm talking all kinds of dogs - couple of pit bulls, doberman, etc.. in my experience there are two times you need to be alert around other dogs - 1) if your dog is feeling threatened, separate it 2) if you see someone with a dog who's carrying it, or got it leashed and acting scared when another dog approaches, the dog is gonna behave the same (and dogs don't often choose the flight response).

My dog is a big, muscular dog. But he's the dog that people let rescue dogs or young puppies play with to get them used to the idea that big dogs are playful, not threatening Yeah, i'm proud of him.. people time their walks to coincide with his.

I believe that a sane dog's temperament is dependent upon the owner, not its size or breed (within reason - i wouldn't immediately assume something like a dingo could be raised domestically).

I was told by someone with a doberman that they don't "chop" the tail off, they wind a rubber band very tightly on the tail of the puppies so that it cuts off circulation and the tail eventually dies and drops off. Doesn't really make it any less disgusting, imo.

When you watch them play with larger dogs they act like there's no size difference as well, if the Pit bull or Doberman is slightly timid, the Jack Russel will often be the more bossy one, even though a Doberman could tear it's head off.

Every large movement has more than its share of fringe elements who try to maximize their own kookery by attaching themselves to a more legitimate movement. For example, the anti-war movement in the Bush administration was jam packed with kooks. The Code Pinkers, the Cindy-Sheehans, and on and on. However, simply because there was a bunch of kooks sucking like leeches on the anti-war movement does not mean that the movement itself was misguided or composed ONLY of lunatics.

Republicans tried to marginalized the anti-war movement by falsely attempting to paint the anti-war 'kooks' as the bulk of the movement. It didn't wash because the bulk of the movement WASN'T anti-war freak-niks. The bulk of the movement in that case was AMERICA who didn't like the war or (at least) how it was being run. Exact same thing as the Tea Party movement. Sure there are a few radicals. But by and large the vast bulk of this large movement is composed of normal, everyday Americans who are angry and displeased with lack of government fiscal responsibility.

Ignore it at your peril, Democrat party. You can pretend the Tea Party isn't 'legitimate' all you want. You can send flacks like MadCow and Doberman to try and falsely portray them as kooks by focusing on the fringes and ignoring the majority. But what group is truly the delusional one in that event?
