@Hive13 I'm kind of hoping that you're joking, because seriously, her drinking is not at issue here, the assault isn't even really at issue here, at issue here was someone (the defense lawyers, and the wording of the ruling out of the Jefferson District Court) of trying to tell the victim of sexual assault that she shouldn't talk about it. There's enough silencing happening around the issue of sexual assault without giving it the sanction of law.

If you want to talk about the assault, I think it should be fairly obvious that you can't give consent while unconscious (the sources I've read say that the assault happened after she passed out). If someone is too wasted to know what's up, then consent cannot be given, and the other partner would have to be really messed up to think that sort of behavior was OK. She didn't place the boys in that position, the boys did that to themselves - by assaulting her and taking pictures.

Slagging on this particular teen for doing something that is extremely common looks like an attempt to shame the victim. If you want to go moan about drinking at parties, find a different conversation -- here's one
http://videosift.com/video/Drinking-Culture-David-Mitchell-s-Soapbox

It's these sort of attacks on character that help a tiny number of men get away with a large number of sexual assaults, because their victims don't come forward (because of fear of being ostracized), aren't believed (you were drunk), or aren't prosecuted (it's just boys being assholes).

@Shepppard

There were TWO boob videos? Shit, I missed one of them.

Tell you what, when the endless cat videos, the assinine Zero Punctuation reviews (that only one person seems to post; I haven't figured THAT one out yet), the David Mitchell rants (which aren't the least bit funny or interesting), and the daily Daily Show, Colbert Report, QI, TYT, and Graham Norton videos go away, we can talk about the FOUR (five?) UP videos.

The problem is, no matter what I think about the videos I mentioned (and I do enjoy and upvote some of them), they get lots of votes. So... boohoo for me. That's how it works. Video gets submitted, people vote on it. If you don't like this video, downvote it. You aren't going to hurt my feelings. But if you are going to cry about this harmless 25 second video that I had a little fun with and others found worthy enough for an upvote, and give a pass to other, much more profuse videos that I feel "add nothing", then I'm not interested in your fucking opinion.

What people don't seem to realize is that Atkins is starvation with a full belly. Yes, if you reduce your useable energy intake to zero, you'll quickly start dropping fat... and muscle... and whatever else your body can break down to fill the gap.
When you go back to eating normally, you'll probably pack it right back on. That's how our bodies generally respond to starvation.
The real kicker is how many people think carbs are unhealthy as a result of this stupid diet.
Back around 2000 when I was sick with an ulcer, acid reflux, and a generally uncooperative GI tract, I was telling someone about how I ate a lot of plain pasta because it never irritated my gut, it was reasonably healthy, and at least I was eating something. I was about 40lbs underweight at this point, so I had to take what I could get. Someone overheard me and said, "Oh, all those carbs are really unhealthy."

It's not starvation - fat has twice as much 'usable energy' as carbohydrates have per gram. Your mind will tell you it's starving for the first few days, because it takes time to build up enough enzymes to efficiently process the different form of energy than it usually gets, but it all ends up as ATP eventually. You're probably right about some people thinking carbs are bad because of this diet, but that's assuming they treat the diet like a religion and don't look at any other information, which is not going to be the case for everyone - and heck, quite a few of the sources of easily available carbs these days are pretty horribawful.

Also, if you look at the research, those participants in low carb/high fat/adequate protein diets usually fair just as good, or better than, high carb participants in terms of keeping the weight off after the diet is over.

Anyway you look at it, Atkins is still dead!

What's your point? That his diet doesn't work because he's died... at the age of 72... from a fall where hit his head?

As Tom Stoppard said, when asked why he smoked while knowing cigarretts could kill him, "How differently I might behave if immortality were an option."

And if he also knew proper bread - coarse, freshly baked norwegian style bread*) made from whole-grain flour. Mmmh.

And no - it is nothing like the pre-sliced "grain" toast you may have tasted.

And - David Mitchell => Instant upvote

*) Actually the recipe originated from Germany, but who cares?
