No love for the Bruins? I'm appalled.

I somewhat support the Pats because my dad liked them because Brady is the QB and he went to Michigan and the Lions sucked for so long (yes weird logic). I don't care much for the Sox (or baseball in general) except for when they beat the Yankees.

Jon Stewart Goes After Fox in Ferguson Monologue

modulous says...

The witnesses? The only witness that vaguely supports this that I've seen is an anonymous witness cited in the Daily Caller. Not credible journalism even by USA standards. The known witnesses are Dorian Johnson (altercation at the car, shooting as he ran away, he got hit, turned around put his hands up and stumbled forwards before the shooting began again), James McKnight (more or less the same as Johnson), Michael Brady (altercation at car, shooting, then as Brown was halfway towards falling to the ground more shots), Piaget Crenshaw (shots fired as he ran away with hands up, turned with hands up, more firing). Those accounts aren't too far from the Police account really. Is it reasonable to conclude deadly force is required in the timeframe of the shooting? What does police protocol say? One step? Two? When can you be sure it's not charging but belligerence, drunkenness, or injury? I'm sure America are the experts in these cases by now and have explicit and clear guidelines for semi-autonomous itinerant armed police officers and when they can and cannot open fire. Surely it isn't just 'if you harbour any fear, kill or otherwise incapacitate the citizen you are trying to apprehend'?

There is also TheePharoah who tweeted it from the scene and said ' JUST SAW SOMEONE DIE OMFG....no reason! He was running!', but you know, its not clear he can provide further useful information assuming he was interviewed.

The witnesses I have heard said the decedent charged the cop. It only takes about 2 seconds to fire 6 shots.

The decedent demonstrated he was willing to take the cop's gun, and that is something a cop can't tolerate.

New "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Preview Clip with Maggie Q

chingalera says...

Improv is what it is-It has to be fresh, spontaneous. The shows been on for too long and the formula worked best with Carey. Glad to see Wayne Brady still has a job as well as JC's sidemen from his series, all funny guys.

Live improv is best, go catch their gig in Vegas and you'll enjoy at least one more night of it. If you wanna see Carey you'll have to petition Burbank for a couple for tickets to Price is Right.

Looks like Crap. Seriously I loved Whose Line, this isn't it. It's been Retooled for daytime television and women. Stupid host with the worst laugh ever, not even looking forward to this anymore.

Outstanding effort to make an across the field tackle

I think he was just aware Brady didn't pass to him even though he was kind of open. He was half expecting the pass and that's why he realized about 1.5 seconds earlier than everyone else that it was an interception.

Jim Carrey's 'Cold Dead Hand' Pisses Off Fox News Gun Nuts

MilkmanDan says...

I'm pretty pro-gun. I grew up in Kansas in a home with a .22 rifle, and had many friends that had a much more extensive arsenal in their homes. One "gun nut" friend had somewhere around 10 high-powered rifles, roughly the same number of shotguns, 3-4 pistols, and even an AR-15 (civilian version of M-16) with extensive clips, flash suppressors, etc. purchased before the "assault weapons ban". That family was very responsible with their guns -- all locked in gun cabinets, fully unloaded, separate from ammo whenever not in use, sons all trained to use them responsibly, etc. I think a family/individual should have the right to do all that stuff. For defense, for hunting, as a farm "tool" (a firearm can be invaluable for protecting livestock, eliminating varmints and pests, etc.), for "home defense" (the least practical/intelligent use of firearms by a civilian IMHO), or even just for entertainment / target shooting -- whatever your reasons I think you should be able to legally purchase just about any kind of firearm.

That being said, the NRA goes completely off the deep end with some of the things it opposes. The Brady Bill, waiting periods, background checks, etc.? I'm fine with those "limitations", and I think that the NRA loses legitimacy putting up a fight against very reasonable measures like those. I understand the threat of slippery-slope issues, but waiting periods and background checks aren't going to bring the whole system down and definitely would do more good than harm.

All that being said, while I somewhat disagree with Jim Carrey's message in the "Cold Dead Hands" video, I liked it and could appreciate it as a good piece of satire expressing his point of view. The Fox News blowhards need to "Lighten up, Francis".

Joe Scarborough finally gets it -- Sandy Hook brings it home

chingalera says...

The buzz surrounding this event seems to be headed down the road that led to further firearms on the ban list.

The Miasma from Chicago has always been in favor of gun control measures which do nothing to address causes but minimally treat symptoms and the whims of those who would control humans by eliminating choices along with personal responsibility. He's discussing it right now using fake tears and more than a few examples of the retarded logic that dystopiafurtdy here posted above. It's insulting both to my intelligence and sensibilities to be addressed by a U.S. President, like a blind child with down syndrome.

Cerberus Capital Management, a New York-based investment firm that that owns the largest U.S. gun maker Freedom Group (Bushmaster, Remington) is poised to sell, while stocks in Sturm, Ruger & Company has increased more than 700 percent (Smith and Wesson, 253% ) since Obama was elected in 2009. Not very wise stewards of those pensions for teachers, California!.....The same retarded ban on firearms in California happened back when I lived in San Francisco. One lone gunman walks into the 101 California Street building and kills a few peeps with a variety of guns and "BOOM!", people who don't know how to use a shovel properly, acting on emotions and severely compromised common sense, support bans on a whole spattering of guns, ammo, etc., because on-accounta it was so horrible and was apparently the gun's fault Now SOH Feinstein is at it again, another fractured piece of out-of-touch, privileged human pieces of garbage appealing to emotions rather than reason, and playing the game she was placed in position to play.

Dipshits?? No, same intentional, systematic plans like the Brady Bill and the National Assault Weapons Ban, a knee-jerk, and well-timed coup on individual rights relative to protecting oneself and family.

How about for STARTERS, "Anyone ever treated for mental illness or prescribed anti-psychotic or psychotropic drugs for the treatment of the same, can't even be around anyone with guns, much less purchase them. That would stop MOST of these random acts of carnage.

I won't even begin to mention in detail the amount of illegal firearms on the banned lists-to-date that are in the hands of drug dealers, pimps, gang members, etc. and the insanity of THAT subset of society, COPS, and SOLDIERS being the only people with that kind of monopoly on firepower. Fuck that shit. Time is nigh to becoming a criminal or expatriate.

Eric Winston Tears into Fans Who Cheered Quarterbacks Injury

messenger says...

Serious. That's fucked up. I know individuals are more important than team. Maybe that's the mentality I don't possess which makes it easy to cheer unwaveringly for a particular team rather than people or personal convictions. Maybe that's what I have that the average sports fanatic doesn't.>> ^bmacs27:

Matt Cassel has been a bit of a scapegoat for KC fans. Also, they have an arguably more competent backup in Brady Quinn. That's in some ways the most despicable part. People weren't cheering the hit so much as the personnel ramifications of the hit. That they could let their animosity for their own player get to that point is a bit disturbing. It shows utter detachment from the humanity of the players. I think that's the point Winston is making. >> ^messenger:
Why did KC fans cheer when their own QB went down?

Ooh, I like this.
I'd also like one that called out the numerous quotes attributed to people like Will Smith and Dane Cook and other 'deep thinkers' as being misquotes... or the ones attributed to actual great people, but also not being their quotes.
