I'm pretty sure Sonic Drive-inns came before the Hedgehog, they got popular in the 50's. Though I always thought that they should join up with Sega and do a promotion or two.

God I could go for a large cherry lime-aid and some Sonic onion rings. It's like unobtanium here in Australia.

Are you really genre bending if the genres you bend are all firmly within contemporary electronic music tradition? I think these electronic guys would be much more free if they thought of these sub-genres as 'techniques' rather than trying to conform to a narrow set of sub-genre-specific aesthetic rules. I love electronic music, but it has more conformist tendencies than just about any other genre I can think of, which is ironic, because when you use a computer as your musical instrument there are few limits to what you can do sonically.

Double Dagger ... punky band from baltimore

LCD Soundsystem ... guy who runs DFA but LCD was bigger than his own label somehow.

REM ... duh

The White Stripes ... duh

Ludicra ... metal band from east bay that had a wicked female vocalist

The Stills ... fuck em

Ponytail ... some weirdo mathy band from baltimore that probably should not have had a vocalist at all.

and Sonic Youth. Had no idea Sonic Youth threw in the towel but knew that Thurston and Kim are getting divorced which is sad in and of itself.


All I know is that I did not see Lou Reed or Metallica on the list ... leaves me disappointed.
