Lady Gaga - Alejandro

Yogi says...

I was surprised how awesome Lady Gagas other stuff was and how much I liked it. This however...was shit. Not a good song and an even worse video that looks like it was made by a gay french guy in a scarf who has delusions that he can "shock" people. Gay Nazis really? Do you actually think you're "pushing boundaries" if you make this stuff?

It might have impressed some idiots and shocked some anti-gay activists but as far as I can see this is just a showcase of a couple of mad fetishist prop and costume people. You're not creative, you're boring.

Muslim Student vs. Horowitz: Major Student FAIL

So you're very tolerant except of Muslims, foreigners and other cultures? Don't set that bar too high, now.
>> ^rougy:
Hard call for me. I'm all for tolerance, but I do remember a college professor forcing all of the guys to take off their ball caps in his class.
I also can't stand fundamentalist religions of any sort, especially the type that subjugates women, which I believe Islam does with these sorts of dress codes.
I'll also say that in western cultures, the concealment of the face is usually associated with criminal activity.
I kind of think...if a person wants to live their lives in such a backwards manner, how can they really expect to be treated otherwise in a modern, western, 21st century world?
I mean, fuck! A couple of Britons are going to jail in Dubai (I think) for kissing in public. Given that kind of social intolerance, I'm not going to get all worked up about this one just yet.

So my hat is douch-baggery and her face-hiding scarf is sacred?

I'm very tolerant. If you've looked at my words and trace them henceforth you might agree. But I have little patience for fundamentalists.

And I'll tell you why: because when the tables are turned, the fundamentalists will never afford the "secular world" the same tolerance that we afforded them.

I don't hate her. I hope she learns French, but more importantly I hope she learns how to take off that stupid fucking mask.

I do not apologize for that thought.

I couldnt tell man, is that on me or the guy who finds the internet to personal ?

I said business attire, school uniforms, anywhere its mandated the basics of what must be worn, it creates a different environment to all be dressed the same, in the sense of business, everyone wear suits and such to be "professional" I dont see how other guy didnt get that parallelism it all has to do with being told what to wear... hahahha I never ever thought that thread would get so much response, I laugh when I see that.

In reply to this comment by Matthu:
It's not business attire either, hypocrite.

So I was thinking, I don't see why this would go to a provincial level. Institute a basic dress policy as they have in business or in private even public schools. It is well within the schools/institutions right to have one. No I don't hate Muslims but I do religions; I 100 percent agree with the ideal that you accustom YOURSELF to the countries customs not the other way around.
burdturgler, you where a douche for pouncing on dudes g/f, she was referring what I said about Sikh knife, and it has everything to do with this story because it involves individual religious beliefs, if you are not up to speed on that story from a couple years back I can inform you of it.

This concept "that you accustom YOURSELF to the countries customs not the other way around" ... Does said country not include rights to religious freedom and the ability to worship and peacefully express those beliefs? Yes? It's sickening reading some of these posts. Is there some government mandate that says what business attire someone should wear? No. You 'hate religions', so you're a bigot and have no respect for other peoples rights. I'm a douche for "pouncing" on the knife thing? You're a douche for making it a part of this conversation. This video has nothing to do with that. A scarf is not a knife.

You either believe in all of the people's rights or none of them.
Rougy, you're a hypocrite and a bigot as far as I'm concerned. You either hate religion or you hate Muslims. This hatred has blinded you to the truth. That all people have the right to practice their faith (or lack thereof) freely and peacefully, without loss of dignity. That is "the rule" of law there. Even if you don't agree with her beliefs, to have her rights to them denied is as much a threat to you as it is to anyone else. A baseball cap and a yamaka may be the same thing to you, but it isn't to the hundreds of millions of Jews who practice the faith, and likewise a woman who practices the Muslim faith should not be denied to wear the scarf prescribed by her religion if she so chooses.

lmao ..

Hello "maffu"'s girlfriend. This is burdturglers' mom. I'm going to respond to this post because BT is busy taking a dump.

This isn't about a knife. It's about a scarf. As for identity, the school knows full well who the student is, if there was really some concern then all students should wear personally identifiable ID badges outside of their clothing so that everyone at every time can ascertain the identity of everyone. Maybe they should use an eye scanner before someone enters the campus grounds. The onus is on them to provide security and integrity for the schools but that has to be done without sacrificing the freedoms of individuals. You are talking a lot of shit that has nothing to do with the subject. You want to check fingerprints at the ballot box? Great. Has nothing to do with a woman being allowed to wear a scarf over her face for her religion.

Don't Slap Romanian Cops

Zyrxil says...

Here's a translation from here. It's actually for the lo
nger news video
which is this video with a few extra minutes.

N - newscaster
T - teacher
P - police officer

The scene opens up, with the teacher's hand on the cop's torso.

T: Why do you want to put your hands on me?
P: I don't want to ma'am. (unsure of this) What have I done to you? [he walks out of the doorway to get some distance, not taking his eyes off her]
T: You put your hands on me a few times
P: Don't pull me. Be careful... [as they walk out and, I'm assuming she pulls his jacket/arm (view is blocked by his torso). He deflects her arm by grabbing it and pushing it to the left.]
T: [with her now free arm, she backhands the cop and says] Get the hell out of here or I'll slap the shit out of you! (Note: she doesn't curse, but that's about the closest translation I can come up with that conveys in English the true sentiment behind the words. The literal translation is "Go away from here because I will give you such a slap that you will not see yourself." See, it's just not the same Smile)
P: Ioooooooi. (A Romanian exclamation that conveys, in this case, "Oh no she didn't!") [Cop puts his glasses on. Queue Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who.]
T: Why are you putting your hands on me repeatedly? Why? (Or "a hundred times" to quote her exactly") [Teacher stands her ground, looking furious and aggrieved.]
P: [slaps the teacher]
T: [gasps! Puts her hand on her face, looking shocked. Starts a fake (at least to me it sounds fake) cry.]
T: [walks away crying, raises her arm slightly]
P: [flinches at the threat of another possible slap. Grabs the teacher's arm.]
T: [wails something intelligibly, possibly about gypsies]
[old batiked woman woman opens door of another classroom and says something about this having to stop]

N: The protagonists of this fight are a teacher and a police officer, and the scene is the school in Sanpaul from the county Mures. The two representatives of the state institutions started quarreling and exchanging slaps in front of cameras and in a place with children. (Oh noes, think of the children!!) The police officer had been called to settle a conflict in which the teacher was implicated, after several parents [cue scene of angry-looking parents in a wintry scene] from the town of Sanpaul had accused the teacher of being aggressive towards the other teaching staff. The angered professor also lunged at the reporter from Antena 3 (the channel broadcasting this). [Cue scene with teacher pushing jacketed and scarfed man]

Reporter: We have it on camera.
T: Good. (something intelligible) [Angrily] So I'll push you as he's pushing me!!

N: The parents of some children are unhappy that the teacher is violent in school.

[cue angry parents shouting angrily, not at aaaaaall angry like the teacher]

Woman in white, shouting: What kind of example is this for children, tell me!

[cut to head of police in the area]

Head: Madam teacher was here at the police precinct. She said that she was slapped by another teacher. She will go to the forensic expert and she will file a complaint.

N: The teacher is defending herself and maintains that she is the one who is being aggressed by her colleagues.

T: [very serene and nonchalant] It was about discrimination. I'm very sorry for the incident, but I didn't aggress any teacher. Everything was planned. (As in, this was done to make her look bad.)

N: The Education Minister has started an administrative inquisition in the case of the teacher, and sanctions can be as grave as excluding her from teaching. And as far as the police man who slapped her is concerned, authorities have declined to respond.

There's no question she's nuts. Whether the cop should've done what he is is the only debatable point, though he did stun her enough to get her to stop her crap without any kind of tasering or true physical force. In another vid, she gets called up by a TV show for an interview and basically denies hitting anyone even though it was caught on camera, and then starts yelling at the host for not letting her talk. That vid is here, but nothing to see since it's just a video of a phone call. Translation for it is a good read though, which is here.

Geert Wilders brilliant speech

Uncle_Vinnie says...

good analysis...

here is a selection of statements he made and for which he is currently being prosecuted:

Fitna(film)
"The Islam wants to conquer, subjugate and destroy our civilization. In 1945 Nazism was conquered, in 1989 Communism, and now we most conquer the Islamic ideology"
The movie show images of a future Holland as a Islamic country. A postcard of The Netherlands which s only shows minarets, a violent decapitation and images of terrorist attacks.

Volkskrant, 08-08-2007
"The root of the problem is the fascistic Islam, the sick ideology of Allah en Mohammad demonstrated in the Islamatic Mein Kampf: The Qur'an. The texts of the Qur'an leave little to the imagination."
as sanderbos said, referring to Mein Kampf is a big no-go in Western Europe.

"Ban that book (the Qur'an). Just like Mein Kampf!”
It is still illegal to sell Mein Kampf in the Netherlands. You are allowed to own it and trade it but not to buy it however.

De Pers, 13-02-2007
"Enough is enough. Close the borders, no more Muslims for the Netherlands, export as many as possible. Take away the Dutch passport of Muslim criminals"

Volkskrant, 07-09-2006
"Close the borders for non-western immigrants'
“We have to stop the tsunami of Muslims. It is a matter that touches our heart.”

>> ^sanderbos:
Well rougy,
Dutch 'liberal' here, not a Wilders fan.
The court case is completely ridiculous, of course he should be able to say what he wants, especially since he is a politician and has to be able to express things even if they defy laws (since politicians define laws), and because he represents a large constituency of Dutch voters (8 percent in last election, could be up to 30% according to some polls).
However, this speech, man he or his (famous) lawyer seemed to have cobbled together all divine phrases of free speech and wrapped them together in a nice little presentation. Anybody can put together a speech like this ("wasn't it Voltaire who said 'as much as I despise your opinion, I will defend your ability to speak it'" is a staple of such speeches, and no it wasn't Voltaire).
You must understand that Wilders' other thoughts include a tax of say (pinky to mouth) a thousand dollars per hijab (islam head scarf) to fix the economic crisis.
The situation on free speech in the Netherlands is super unclear. Because we are such a liberal free country, nobody really bothered/ bothers to ensure those rights are also legally documented. So on some fronts the freedoms of speech are very limited if prosecution occurs (almost yearly people are put in prison over making pretty tame references to the queen, giving somebody the finger is technically an offense).
In this particular case, the Dutch DOJ first decided not to sue, then some hippy who can't deal with anybody not agreeing him (Rene Danen) forces the DOJ to reconsider, if you read the verdict of that case you can see it is all about Nazi Germany references, a big no-no in the Netherlands (Wilders compares the Quran to Mein Kampf, as in both books that cause people to do bad things).
Anyway, this is just part of the whole Wilders big clown extravanganza show that is going on for years now. He is just making outregeous claims and getting in trouble everywhere to drum up support (actually I am most impressed by the way he does these things, as he does really little press or other public things yet gets the press to talk about him constantly). I think it is unclear what will happen if he gets into power (which probably won't happen all too soon, in part because of him the Dutch political landscape is superfragmented now, any coalition created in the next four years will be crazy enough without him in it).
