Mel Brooks Misses Being Able to Call Gene Wilder

poolcleaner says...

Anne Bancroft, Mel's wife (Mrs. Robinson), was only 73 when she died of cancer. :=(

This picture makes me happy and sad: Mel and Anne

Look at this incredible picture: Mel, Alfred, and Anne

More awesome but sad pics: John and Gilda

The icing on the cake is an interview with Gene wilder on Merv Griffith where he talks about how he dealt with his mother being close to death, how he would try to make her happy by making her literally pee her pants: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IATnW4A_r8U

It's crazy, I binge watched hours and hours of Gene Wilder interviews sometime last year and this video is what stands out to me the most.

And this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5B3v7OKNvp4

Gene Wilder was such a unique actor!

Also, I just gotta say, everyone has got to heil hitler at least once in public to have truly TRULY lived! It's a nervous tick, mein fuhrer!

top ten chris farley moments

poolcleaner says...

Chris Farley, Elvis Presley, Tupac Shakur, The Beatles (they were all fucked up on various abuses, including physical), Michael Jackson, River Phoenix, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, John Belushi, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, Biggie Smalls, Gary Coleman...

I don't think Chris Farley is the prime example, but he's on the list.

But... that doesn't mean their works are any less for it. Getting famous for having talent brings reward, but it also blurs the lines and stunts maturity...

Most of these people didn't even make it to 30, or were so fucked up by the time they had hit this milestone, there was nothing they could do; they didn't have the necessary life lessons that guide us by constant evolution of being. Too many rewards and too much pressure with few threshold guardians to intercede. It's a gauntlet.

None of them. Chris Farley is a prime example of everything wrong with "hollywood comedy".

I've watch 83 seconds of this video, and so far I hate every single aspect of it.
Chris Farley and David Spade are marginally less amusing than finding out you have herpes and Adam Sandler isn't much better.

And then the host says "as per uushe". WTF? you couldn't say "as per usual".

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Also made the video embed. The video is better than I would have done Spoco - especially in the low light. And a great music choice. Next year we fly in @youdiejoe for the full Hollywood treatment. Maybe I'll look less like John Belushi's fat brother.

Japanese politician calls for obliteration of Japan

chicchorea says...

This guy reminds me of someone....

From the moment he shifted to change posturally, I knew he was going to open his head and let it all fall out.

To this, I laughed the longest, hardest, and loudest I have all day.

Almost surreal, no, very surreal, I found myself waiting for him to rip off his face and John Belushi yell "It's Saturday...."

Hearing it in Japanese made it surreally perfect. Could have only been improved by Klingon.

I really lost it when he said if elected, he would be terrified.

This is a parody for sure, and a good one, though too short. This is not a Star Wars Kid situation. This is a filmmaker with very carefully planned and rehearsed action. The whole thing is well made: the opening, choice of shooting location, angles, light, variety of tricks, editing, music etc. I'm sure each trick was filmed several times. There's no way including that fall was an accident, though it was a bad choice. It burst the parody effect and turned it into a "fail" vid.

No it fails as a parody for me because the guy is too physically uncoordinated. Chris Farley, John Belushi, etc. are big fat co-ordinated fat guys who make it look funny when they act like uncoordinated spazzes. I wouldn't trust this guy to approach me carrying a hot cup of coffee..
