What Is Patriotism? - Short and Sweet
Love of ones country? Following your president into a cross fire? Shirking your constitutional responsibility so as to further a non publicized agenda?
Loving your country because god told you so? Loving your country because authority told you so? Loving your country because of the TV you have, the car you drive, or the nice places you frequent?
Loving your country because if you don’t some one may call you un-American? Loving your country because you are American? Loving your country because of the soldiers who are fleeced and killed by a falsely valiant Sheppard?
True Patriotism is the ability to stand up to a morally wrong introvertly tyrannical power.
- is devoted, not to government per se, but to good government, which by definition is limited constitutional government, and to the freedoms of individuals as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and secured to them by the Ninth and Tenth Amendments.
- recognizes that occupants of public offices love power and are prone to abuse it

This quote is referenced from the above web page, and I do not own this writing.
Do to this era of false war, the Stars and Stripes to me is as strong a symbol as wet paper towels. Every time I see one I am reminded of the wrong ideas for which friends and family have died for.
