I have a self made PC that is also a Hackintosh, so I really use both pretty regularly. I have have owned both Mac and PC hardware in the past and just used a KVM to go between. I feel the love for both sides.
My first computer was an Apple Quadra 840AV ($1200 just for 100 megs of ram). Since then its been self or friends built PCs. One constant continual upgrade.
I have a crappy Acer laptop.
Self-built Vista Home Premium 64-bit machine and an ASUS Vista Business 32-bit laptop.

Yay - Mac takes the lead.
^You may want to check the results again.
I don't really know what to predict from this community. There's a lot of Apple (Dear lord, Jobs, pick one, Mac or fucking Apple) fan boys here but there's a lot geeks that play videogames, too...
I have both, but use my self-build desktop PC and my brand-name laptop PC (edit: Running XP on both, tried Vista on both and hated it). I have an original G4 Powerbook, used it extensively with OS X for years, and then used linux on it for quite a while to extend its usable lifespan. I have to say that I don't think I'll ever buy an Apple computer again.

I guess I misread the the graph.
To each their own. Linux is great if you have the skills to keep it patched and manage your window manager. I would never recommend it to any of my non-techie friends. Even the file manager would drive them batty. I also do a bit of graphical stuff and would sorely miss Photardshop and Illustrator. I've tried Gimp.
I have one Quad Core system for gaming, one pentium 4 for torrent downloads and archiving, and one system I set up for my parents to use. All 3 were self built.
I used a Mac back in Middle school and High school for a while. I can only classify the experience as retarded computing.
I have a Toshiba notebook. I'm itching to try a Mac though. Vista has done it in for me.
I can't justify the expense at the moment unless I needed a new one, so I'll continue to leave mine plugged in during thunderstorms and hope for the best.
I am probably the only person (or one of very few) in the world that likes Vista better than XP.
It takes a couple of months to break it in but after that it's just fine.
But what I really hate is my virus protection.
Just a little hint, never buy Norton Internet Security (or any other Symantec product). It's almost as bad as having a virus.
I have a Rock Pegasus 670 Laptop - 2GB 8600GT (I do 3D modelling and games hehe, as well as Skype and internet stuff) and 2.4Ghz Intel Duel Core 2
Oh, and Vista 32bit, which I have found to be nice
I roll my own, of course. Used Macs in middle/high school but they're just okay. Not excited about Windows either but it's what you need to play most games so there we are.
Linux is in the same boat as Macs... I don't care enough about my OS to screw around with all the fiddly little details, and you can't (seriously) game on Linux.
"Oh hey! You have a mac? What games do you play?"
I can't wait to have a computer...right now I connect to the internets by sucking on a coaxial cable.
it tastes like burning.
yer poll is poo...you just wish you could afford a mac....
Mac Here and Im happy with It
My first computer was a Performa 6400/200. After that a long line of G3's and G4's stacked with insane amounts of ram (for the time) and big stacks of raids via SCSI for video editing and animation. Since I moved to Central America I am stuck in PC land, the only Apples I see are at the market.

Since I have nothing but linux machines myself I guess I don't get a vote, but I do have to ask what is the litmus test for "serious" gaming?
Homebuilt gaming PC which I use almost exclusively to surf the internet on. Let's just say it doesn't slow down very often, and my room is warmer than a sauna.

Naw, I do too. If for nothing else then because it is
immune, err, just as immune to viruses as a mac. Can't say it's been trouble free, I have had all kinds of problems ranging from updating to gaming, but I just like the feeling more than the cold XP interface.I guess I would like a Mac, but memories from using the old iMac blue plastic bubble computer at school are burned in my head.
"serious gaming"
Accomplished with no life, no girlfriend, and no more cheetos in the cupboard-
I have a Mac. I don't know much about computers and I don't play many video games, so it works just fine for me. To each his own.

Anything other than games available on macs.

since MacOSX and Linux can both run wine, this basically means anything that wine can't run is a "serious" game? orangebox = not serious, castle infinity = serious ?
I have a work thinkpad PC and an ubuntu box. Wife has a macbook pro. She's on her 3d hard drive with it for some reason.. we signed up for mozy for backup. I used to be a Apple/Mac guy from way back, but corporate world is pretty much PCs. The interesting tools (java, python, ffox) are largely x-platform anyway, so it's less of an issue.
I have two of each and I use all of them. Where's the option for "I have both, I use both"?
3 PC desktops (one set up for audio recording, the other two, cheapies for the kids to mess around on), 1 Mac desktop
1 PC laptop, 1 Macbook Pro
The PC laptop has only needed to be completely reformatted 3 times, so I'm doing pretty good with it.
I had a PC desktop die a slow agonizing death last week, taking its last breath several hours after a complete reformat and re-installation. That's why I now have the Mac desktop. I'm not feeling PC love at the moment.
I use Extreme PC to build PCs to my specifications. They really know their shit and go out of their way to give you the best value rather than just trying to fleece you. Counter to what you'd think, their prices on individual components are extremely competitive.
I'm considering building my next system completely on my own, just for fun, as it's not like there's anything I need to learn about mounting CPUs and motherboard trays...
Right now I have one main production system. The backup P4 has been in the closet for two years. I also have a laptop (Compaq R3060) which has served me for more than four years now. Pretty sweet laptop, came out in 2003, has a dedicated video card (only 64MB and equivalent to the Radeon 8500) and can run source games pretty well at low res.

Serious computer gaming in this context means being able to play whichever game you feel like, uncompromised, without having to hope beyond hope that the developer or some hacker has deigned to provide a version that you can play on your Mac or Linux box.
PC = personal computer. -waves arms around furiously and turns green- RARWRWARWWR.
