Although it's a common marketing tactic to hot up a production car, install a racing driver, and turn in a supiciously hot lap of the Nordschleife, this is a more low budget exercise. Holden, the Australian division of GM, sent their development driver and a ute which had been in Spain for validation purposes (although they did turn off the speed limiter).
It's easy enough to claim a record for the category of commercial or utility vehicle, since there didn't seem to be one! Top Gear sent a Van around in just under 10 mins, this lap was a credible 8:19:47
