This kind of silly politics is one of the many reasons why I basically gave up on F1 and switched to MotoGP & WSB. No silly team orders there!

For open wheel racing, Indycar is where it's at these days IMO. Since they changed to the DW-12 chassis, lost the stupid blocking rules and brought in some new talent and sponsors, the racing has been fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't care for oval racing, but it looks like its weighing even more towards road and street courses next year.

I wouldn't want F1 to become a spec series, but they need to do something to either make the racing closer or the technology development more interesting. The WEC has been the most interesting development series lately. It's guaranteed that Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault would never allow it, but opening up the engine regulations to allow more freedom could bring in other manufacturers itching to show off their hybrid technology as something sexy and powerful.

What makes an agreement between two teams to not each other get in each others way not race fixing. In any other sport shit like that this would surely be a scandal.

It would have been a scandal in F1 too if it had come out at the time instead of 17 years later This sort of cooperation between competing teams has been speculated on over the years, but this is the first time I can recall it actually being confirmed by someone involved.

Strategy is what makes F1 more interesting to watch than other sports, which are typically just a bunch of sweaty morons running around on a lawn.

Team orders have always been a good thing and people who don't like them are intellectually and morally subhuman.

I for my, have no transferable or proven or legitimate strategy whatsoever with regard to any game, life, or fundamental existence in a world virtual or otherwise.... Experiential stamina however, affords her luxury when tinctured with a sheer will and a general joyfulness about having to put up with bullshit. Racing is what makes F1 interesting, and quite frankly, this kind of bullshit is exactly why it's viewership is declining.

I used to be a huge F1 fan. I've actually been to two grand prix (Hungarian and German) and even I don't really watch it anymore.
