Feeding a farting wombat
Many years ago one of my Mum's relatives had a rescue wombat as a pet... they don't make good pets! The biggest problem is that they are so strong that they can easily break through floorboards or walls if they think they want to be inside when they're shut out (or vice versa). They can also take a chunk of flesh by accident when trying to get food, but their house destroying habits are probably worse.
Dog Saved After 3 Days In A Wombat Hole
Wombat burrows are no fucking joke. If you ever find yourself curious, do not go in one. If the wombat is out of its burrow and comes back to find you in there, it will stand up in the hole and press its back to the roof, trapping you in.
You suffocate and die a very slow death.
Do not enter them.
Dog Saved After 3 Days In A Wombat Hole
Apparently wombat holes are HUGE and deep.
Good on ya, Shoalhaven and Mr. Griffith.
Never give up.
I'm sure Brooklyn appreciates that you didn't quit.
Playing with Baby Wombats
Wombats poop in cubes.
True story.
Playing with Baby Wombats
Mind=Blown
I always thought the "Wombat" was like a Chupacabra or Yeti...
Playing with Baby Wombats
baby wombat bumper cars!
Playing with Baby Wombats
They are cute and playful as babies, but adult wombats are strong enough to break through floorboards or doors and have a very strong bite... even if they aren't trying to hurt you mistakes can happen. Wombats therefore make dreadful pets.
I admit they're cute...but they're Australian critters. What deadly powers are we -not- seeing?
Chubby Wombat wants to play!
Wombats have a really nasty bite, could easily take a chunk out of the caretakers leg. That's what he means by 'he plays rough'.
Aussies Are Hardnuts
As a fellow Aussie I think this is hilarious.
Although, I have come across, in the wild:
Tiger snakes
Copperhead snakes
Scorpions
Red back spiders
Funnelweb spiders
Whitetail spiders (These give nasty fricken bites)
Huntsman spiders (These don't hurt you, but get damn big)
um...
Oh, and by wild, for the spiders, I mean in my house.
Wombats? Lots of those, they can hurt if they bite you.... but they're so cute.
Um... a gazillion bloody possums, but yeah, not the most dangerous of animals
So, um, yeah, I'm a real hardnut...
ahem.

I'd be interested in some of your links. I promise not to send any "counter-links." There are plenty here on the sift.

For another example besides JS of how to discuss the tragedy with a little class was Barak Obama's speech tonight. If only the rabid wolves and wombats of the media would do as he suggests then maybe things would calm down a little. Sorta doubt that'll happen though. The media on both sides is addicted to angry rhetoric like a drug. Here's hoping...
Violent? You can't honestly believe that.
I do not 'believe' it. I KNOW it is fact because I've seen and heard it.
In the interest of not promulgating the venom I won't bother linking it. If you have any interest in seeing those examples, you can doubtless find them youself very very easily with a few simple web searches. I don't want to bother linking them, but rest assured the violence ridden hate speech of the left is myriad, pervasive, and all too common. Do not take my reticence as evidence that I'm somehow making it up. I am more than prepared to supply evidence A-Go-Go, but I'd rather not in the interest of avoiding the standard "Oh yeah well someone else says THIS" syndrome that inevitably follows. This is not the time for it, and it is an all too easy trap to fall into. I do not deny there is some violent rhetoric from a few jerkwads on the right. It is foolishness to deny that there isn't just as much violent rhetoric from the jerkwads on the left.
Excuse both sides if you wish. Or condemn both sides if you wish. But let no one pretend that such rhetoric exists in a bubble on only one side of the aisle. That is the talk of a partisan fool.
