Does anyone here know anything about wing suits?

I'm curious as to how difficult it is. I mean, it looks absolutely awesome, and I'm sure there's a lot of technical knowledge about wind flow, etc involved, but most of the wing suit videos I've seen don't actually look that difficult. Certainly not compared to some of the bike drops, ski/snowboard jumps and so on.

Am I completely wrong and ignorant on this?
It's very often the case that something that looks easy is actually really really hard to do, and it's just a case of a very skilled person making it look easy.

And again, taking nothing away from wingsuiters.... I think it's amazing and I'd love to try it one day.

Accidentally crashing and miraculously surviving is not really a precision target strike. There are actually a number of people who have had green stains on their suit or scraped up hands from getting too close to a tree, but none of that was really on purpose.

By the way, the fact that he hit the pole that accurately after a slalom turn is insane. Wingsuits don't turn on a dime, it's more akin to running around on ice with bowling shoes.

Wasn't there a vid with a wingsuit guy who smashed his crotch on something? That was the first ever precision target strike.

Will it ever be possible to land in a wingsuit?

The way this could happen is you approach a hill, dive steeply before you get there, then rise up close to the hill til you are almost in a stall. At that point you're got very little speed and you just drop a few feet to the ground.

I wonder if anyone is thinking of trying that?

Is what they are doing risky? Sure, but so is what Alex Honnold, Dean Potter, and Dan Osman do/did.

If you want to downvote this downvote every video of guys racing cars, jumping with wingsuits, and just generally doing very dangerous things.

I've been climbing for 18 years and watching this video freaks me out. The thought of doing it in real life is daunting.

I believe what was NOT attempted in this video. A man wingsuiting off the back of a Mini.
