I'm not so sure. We are pretty much like England America's lapdog. Though maybe lapmouse is a better word. More and more we model our government, economy and justice-system on the American. We fight their wars, and we hand over 'suspects'. Our economy relies in a big way on them, and when America collapses under its debt, it will drag us down with it. The coming police state is also visible here, with implementations of id-systems, and the requirement to always wear your passport. Everything gets privatised, and it won't be long before we start enforcing drug laws. The murder of Theo van Gogh was also a blow to our multi-cultural tolerance. I'm telling you, I may be a little pessimistic, but we will be America in 5-10 years.

It seems more like the rotary motion is wavelike doesn't mean that it is directly related to the waves creating the motion. Just like the shape of the paper drum determines what direction the material shifts, the direction that the material is shifting will affect the patterns it makes.

To say that this is a relationship between waves and matter is like citing van Gogh as the relationship between liquids and solids. Look for the way the liquids dry on a solid, then BECOME solid themselves!

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams - Sunshine Through the Rain

Farhad2000 says...

This is was my favorite part, next to the Van Gogh and the castle piece.

Dreams — aka Akira Kurosawa's Dreams, Yume (夢), I Saw a Dream Like This, Konna yume wo mita, or Such Dreams I Have Dreamed — is a 1990 portmanteau film based on actual dreams of the film's director, Akira Kurosawa at different stages of his life. The film is based more on imagery than on dialogue. It consists of eight separate segments in the following order:

# 1 Sunshine Through The Rain
# 2 The Peach Orchard
# 3 The Blizzard
# 4 The Tunnel
# 5 Crows
# 6 Mount Fuji in Red
# 7 The Weeping Demon
# 8 Village of the Watermills

Wumpus is no quantummushroom.

I agree with wumpus that America is not a country of hate. No more than Canada is a country of love. Every nation that I have ever visited has had their share of despicable people. Sometimes the despicable people hold positions of great power.

I am not sure that Holland is a great exemplar of "truly free and happy people", particularly if you look at the Theo Van Gogh incident and the Hirsi Ali situation.

The Bush Administration has hyped the fear of the "islamofascist" beyond any rational basis. Terrorists and their methods have been around for decades. It is simply not a "new and unprecedented" threat. The UK and Israel have been handling comparably greater terrorist threats for decades without eroding civil liberties and placing powers in the hands of an unchecked executive.

I would like to know if Wumpus would support the torture powers asserted by the Bush Administration (no transparency, no oversight, classified secret prisons, warrantless surveillance) if someone like Al Sharpton (or even someone like Richard Nixon or Bill Clinton) was President.

I appreciate the faith that some people have in this administration. But it is a deliberately blind, lemming-like faith on the issues of Iraq and torture.
