Thank you for opening my eyes/ears to Kent (Kent - Kärleken Väntar)! I like to listen to non-english music a lot (mostly German, some French and Spanish) and I am always looking for more. I ordered a CD (from Sweden) and have spent much of the day listening to their music (and strumming along on the ukulele when I can, since most of their songs have chords and lyrics on Kent's web site)

The Beatles - Let It Be

thepinky says...

^Are you kidding? Try not stoned at all.

I love this video. It is really interesting to see how much the Beatles changed over the years. At the beginning they always seemed like they were having a good time. They lapped up the attention and it seemed like everything was new and delightful to them. The later years are marked by much more sober Beatles, especially John, who used to be the goof-off.

If you're a fan like me, I recommend a band called 1964 The Tribute, a Beatles tribute band. It sounds really corny and silly, but I went because the tickets were cheap and I really enjoyed myself. They are actually very good musicians and have spent years perfecting their impersonations of The Fab Four. I have watched a lot of Beatles footage over the years and these guys got everything right. The way they strummed their guitars or played the drums, their stance on stage, the timbre of their voices, the way they talked and the kind of things they said to a live audience, their mannerisms, everything was nearly perfect. It was highly entertaining.

Social Distortion - Story Of My Life

MrFisk says...

High school seemed like such a blur
I didn't have much interest in sports or school elections
And in class I dreamed all day
About a rock 'n' roll weekend
And the girl in the front of the room
So close yet so far
Y'know she never seemed to notice
That this silly school-boy crush wasn't just pretend

Chorus:
Life goes by so fast
You only want to do what you think is right
Close your eyes and then it's past;
(it's the) story of my life

And I went down to my old neighborhood
The faces have all changed, there's no one left to talk to
And the pool hall I loved as a kid is now a seven eleven

I went downtown to look for a job
I had no training, no experience to speak of
I looked at the holes in my jeans and turned and headed back

Chorus

Good times come and good times go
I only wish the good times would last a little longer
I think about the good times we had and why they had to end

So I sit at the edge of my bed
I strum my guitar and I sing an outlaw love song
Wonderin' bout what you're doin' now and when you're comin' back

Chorus

Zero Punctuation - The E3 Trailer Park

Fjnbk says...

The most interesting games for me at E3 were Mirror's Edge, LittleBigPlanet, and M.A.G, just for the scale of it all.

Wii Music looks utterly terrible, like Guitar Hero with only a strum bar, which doesn't actually do anything.

Thanks, snoozie. That means a lot to me, coming from such a music enthusiast like you.

I can't help it, but it's true. Don't get me wrong; I love modern music, obviously. Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands, and they revolutionized the science of sound. I don't think I need to explain that to you. Still, at the the end of the day it's always the sound of natural instruments that really do it for me. One of my favorite Floyd tunes is "Wish You Were Here", and one of my favorite Yes tunes is "Mood For A Day". Of course there are MANY other favorites I have from those bands, but I find myself going back to those songs over and over more than most.

You know my feelings about God, but I tell ya, there's something in nature that man simply can't beat when it comes to music. Maybe it will always be that way. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

A synth is cool, but a cello is beautiful. One of my best friends owns a music store and he's an expert in vintage Martin guitars. In fact, he does the PBS road shows to appraise guitars for them. He has a huge collection of Martin guitars from the 20s and 30s. I can't afford one. I was with him a few months ago when he sold one for $55,000. But, I get to play them. Strumming one of those things will raise the hair on the back of your neck.

A synth ages and it just shorts out. A wooden instrument ages like fine wine. A great musician on a great instrument......you can't beat that.

I hate to sound like a music snob, because I'm certainly not. (Some of my music sifts will certainly attest to that. However I must say that despite all the technological advances in sound production, it's still hard to beat the sound of natural instruments when they're played well. That's why I love posting videos of acoustic guitar performances, along with videos of other natural instruments too.

Saul Williams--List of Demands NOT produced by Trent Reznor

eric3579 says...

I want my money back. I'm down here drowning in your fat. You got me on my knees praying for everything you lack. I ain't afraid of you. I'm just a victim of your fears. You cower in your tower praying that I'll disappear, I got another plan, one that requires me to stand. On the stage or in the street, don't need no microphone or beat. And when you hear this song, if you ain't dead then sing along. Bang and strum to these here drums til you get where you belong.

I got a list of demands written on the palm of my hands. I ball my fist and you're gonna know where I stand. We're living hand to mouth! You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I gotta list of demands written on the palm of my hands. I ball my fist and you're gonna know where I stand. We're living hand to mouth! Hand to mouth!

I wrote a song for you today while I was sitting in my room. I jumped up on my bed today and played it on a broom. I didn't think that it would be a song that you would hear, but when I played it in my head, I made you reappear. I wrote a video for it and I acted out each part. Then I took your picture out and taped it to my heart. I've taped you to my heart dear girl, I've taped you to my heart and if you pull away from me you'll tear my life apart..

Ecstacy, suffering, Echinacea, bufferin. We aim to remember what we choose to forget. God's just a baby and her diaper is wet.
Call the police! I'm strapped to the teeth and liable to disregard your every belief. Call on the law! I'm fixin' to draw a line between what is and seems and call up a brawl. Call'em up now! 'cause it's about to go pow! I'm standing on the threshold of the ups and the downs. Call up a truce! 'cause I'm about to bust loose. Protect ya neck,'cause, son, I'm breaking out of my noose.

Steve Shepherd - Swimming Pools & Waterfalls

schmawy says...

From description: "also sifted 2 of his earlier tunes, which should appear at the bottom of this page." Heheheee.

I think this is great. There are some really good ideas here. Must be using some kind of open tuning, because if I play my guitar like that it sounds like strumming a chain link fence.

Guitar Hero DS! (Videogames Talk Post)

8772 says...

Yeah...I'm not sure. Depending on how much your shaking the thing while hitting the buttons and strumming, wired headphones might not be practical. And since blaring your music on the bus/bench/far back church pew isn't really an option, it may not be all that portable. But the though of rocking out while sitting on the can....

Guitar Hero with Real Guitars

shatterdrose says...

Elysse, I so second that comment. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing how to REALLY play the song and then have to convert that to Red, Green, Red, Red, Yellow Blue. lol I'm tired of getting my ass handed to me by my friends who can't even strum a real guitar . . . .

I hate to burst your bubble Doc_M (I really do, since I was moved by this video also), but the reason there are no credits, and the reason the video feels like it stops suddenly, is because the last 2 seconds are cut off.

In those last 2 seconds you would see the logo for Fotoprix, and you would realise that your emotions were strummed for the sake of selling their cameras. Enjoy.
