Madonna on David Letterman - 1994

qruel says...

It all started with Letterman's less-than-awesome introduction of the pop star before her 1994 appearance: "Our first guest tonight is one of the biggest stars in the world. In the past 10 years, she has sold over 80 million albums, starred in countless films and slept with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry." Burn! Even faithful sidekick Paul Shaffer couldn't help but object. "She's your guest!" he bellowed from off-camera. To which Letterman responded, "It's right there on her bio, for heaven's sake."

Needless to say, Madonna was less than amused, and decided to enact revenge by dropping the F-bomb a record 14 times and making endless sexual innuendos (including comparing a microphone to a certain part of the anatomy, ahem). At one point, Letterman exclaimed, "This, of course, won't see the light of day." It did (of course), and became one of the highest-rated shows that year. But that didn't stop Letterman from making another joke at Madonna's expense the following evening: "You can tune in safely — she's not on tonight!"

Conan O'Brien's Late Night Premier

Stingray says...

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Night_with_Conan_O%27Brien

O'Brien's Late Night was rushed into production and debuted on September 13, 1993, with Andy Richter as O'Brien's sidekick. The premiere episode featured John Goodman (who received a "First Guest" medal for his appearance), Drew Barrymore, and Tony Randall. The episode featured a cold open of O'Brien's walk to the studio with constant reminders that he was expected to live up to Letterman, parodying a popular sentiment expressed in the media at the time. After seeming to be unaffected by the comments, O'Brien arrives at his dressing room and cheerfully prepares to hang himself. However, a warning that the show is about to start causes him to abandon his plans. The first musical guest on the show was the band Radiohead. The crowd for the first show mainly consisted of family members of the crew of the show so as to ensure a positive reception.

New Internet Phenomenon - Boxxy!

This is for thepinky, who doesn't read my blog. (Blog Entry by UsesProzac)

thepinky says...

EDD, you provided links where, I assume, we are supposed to find me name-calling, etc., but maybe I'm missing where I ever did that?

alien_concept, in the past you have been really cool to me and were very forgiving of past mistakes when I decided to be less confrontational, which is why it gives me pain to say that you are dead wrong if you think that Prozac is a saint and that I alone have been winding this situation up. After Deedub posted his http://politics.videosift.com/talk/Wonder-how-UsesProzac-feels-about-comments-by-thepinky thread and the whole situation seemed to be cooling off, Prozac called me a cunt on my profile not once, not twice, but three times without response from me. I admit I was boiling up a little bit inside, but I tried to ignore it. This more recent incident began when I noticed Prozac antagonizing someone else and being extremely nasty on their profile. I will keep the name of the person under wraps for fear that he will be dragged into this matter and called my sidekick. It wasn't my business, I should have ignored it, but it annoyed me, so I said something to her. WOW. I'm telling you truthfully that my original comment was very calm and I didn't say anything offensive at all. She responded with a hailstorm. She was understandably annoyed. I should have left her alone. But talk about personal attacks! She is the QUEEN.

All you need to do is read this blog to see that I am not the one winding this situation up. Two posts about me in a row? She seems to be thinking, "My insults are just not enough, let me expose my lies and exaggerations about her to the world and all of my friends can back me up!" The above post is one that she posted on my profile...I think it was 3 times? And I deleted it because it is as nasty as anything. Go ahead and read the comments on LittleRed's profile. Isn't it obvious who is antagonizing who? And it is not only LittleRed that she picks on.

You might also notice on Deedub's thread that I attempted to make peace with Prozac, only to have her make fun of it and make me feel like an idiot for trying.

I'm not asking you to take my side. I'm sure Prozac has plenty of wonderful qualities that I have never had the privilege to see. But the person I know loves to crush her enemies, take their weaknesses, blow them out of proportion, shove them in their faces, and announce them to the world. I'm not a fan.

We BOTH could have behaved much more like adults. Prozac is not the Big Bad Wolf and I am not the victim. I haven't behaved well, either. I wish it had never happened and I hope that we can all put it behind us.
