TED: Jamie Oliver's TED Prize talk

choggie says...

It is cheaper to buy staples in bulk, fresh vegetables and meats, fresh eggs and dairy, when one completely eliminates frozen, processed, artificial and sugar-laden foods from your shopping cart.

If you go the extra mile, and eliminate ignorance of kitchen chemistry, the ignorance and stupefaction by design caused by media programming and corporate agendas, you begin to get a clearer picture of a world that can sustain-(Did I mention videogames?? Fuck those as well, you 20-somethings could have played more out of doors, studied music, learned some life skills, instead most are self-absorbed, ineffectual, robotoids.

The direction we are headed as a world is quite bleak otherwise, with quality of life available to the vigilant few.

Stop poisoning your bodies with food.

Urban Skiing

Sketch says...

Dear Youtubers who attempt to pull people on sleds, wagons, boogie boards, Big Wheel's, shopping carts, planks of wood, nothing at all, or anything else your demented little devolved brains can think of:
Notice how the skis give the person being pulled some CONTROL over their own movement! Also, note that at no time does the driver "gun it"!

Now go off and ignore all of those things so that you can give us more fail videos to sift and eliminate your space in the gene pool.

Fail Trucks in Town

Krupo says...

Quite a bit of *timeshift in this compilation, and at least one CN Rail train from *Canada and some Global TV *1sttube contribution as well.

The truck at :35 or so = hilarious, :56 even funnier.

Music = weird.

Shopping carts at 2 minutes in were hilarious.

I wonder if some of these weren't snuff vids though?

Does every video with a brit HAVE to be tagged British? (British Talk Post)

xxovercastxx says...

ant had labeled a video (http://www.videosift.com/video/LOLrio-Kart-45mph-shopping-cart) #asia a while ago because there's an asian guy in it. I posed the following question: if there was an #africa channel, would you put every video with a black person in it?

There was nothing asian about the video. It takes place in Massachusetts. There was no element of asian culture. That the guy in the cart is asian has no impact on the video.

The Ricky Gervais example above, however, I feel is a bit different. Ricky is a celebrity and being british is a significant part of his fame. Ask yourself, if someone is browsing #british, is this likely to be what they're looking for? I'd say yes, there's a good chance this is the kind of thing they're looking for. On the other hand, if someone is browsing #asia, I'd say it's more likely they're looking for anime, martial arts, asian music, Issy's recipes, incredibly stupid game shows or some really fucked up porn.

UP's comment is also right on the money. #Femme should be a channel to be proud of. Women artists, athletes, visionaries, leaders... women's issues: abortion, rape, equality, feminism, suffrage. http://femme.videosift.com/video/Age-Old-Myth-Tested-The-Old-Carrot-On-The-Stick does not need to be in femme.
