Peter Schiff on being mr. Right

volumptuous says...

I've watched every video clip of Schiff, and listened to Ron Paul in the senate hearings with the banks.

I have yet to hear either one of them to tell the rest of us what they think can help us get out of this mess. Neither of them, as far as I can find, have said anything productive. Just a lot of historical perspective, and the "how we got in this mess" routines.

If Obama's speeches about Iraq were only about how we got into that mess, and nothing about how we can get out, people wouldn't listen to him. Why do Paul and Schiff get a pass?

HELP US OUT GUYS! I'd like to hear what you have to say, but you're not saying it.

This is ridiculous, and apparently whoever posted this here and to youtube, has no clue how our government works.
There are a myriad of things that each senator does during the day, and there is almost NO time where all senators are at hearings. They usually come from their office when their aides call them, and then attend.
I see what the poster is trying to get at here; trying to make it seem like Obama is someone who doesn't bother to attend senate hearings, and has "more important" stuff to do, (probably like "palling around with terrorists" or whatever garbage lies).

Oh get over yourself. Half of the crap about McCain on here does EXACTLY the same thing, isolate and repeat the parts you want to see. Not to side with McCain, but to let you see what I see as a third party observer.

Greenspan Destroys Deregulation in 16 Seconds

MycroftHomlz says...

Dude. Sometimes... I never said the other people bare more responsibility. I said, the entire economic crisis should not be hoisted on Greenspan's decisions as chairman of the Fed.

My point was: it is ridiculous for congress and the senate to treat him like he is entirely responsible.

Netrunner: It is true this video does not blame Greenspan. It seemed like things were getting pretty heated at the senate hearing that this comes from. I was trying to point out the context where this came from, and voice my disappointment at the direction of those hearings.

>> ^deedub81:
MycroftHomlz: Greenspan was wrong. He should have done things differently. Suggesting that Paulson, John W. Snow, or Ben Bernanke should hold more blame than Greenspan is absurd. He's even admitting that himself.

Countdown: McCain's record for Supporting the Troops

11807 says...

Just another reason I'm not voting for McCain. But I have to wonder why he voted against those amendments. Would additional funding have made it worse somehow? I wish McCain would explain why, but he'd just say he couldn't recall that senate hearing and make up some bullshit answer. His whole campaign is run so shady and sloppy. He'd probably be no different in the Oval Office.

To make things even, I'd like to see Obama's campaign mistakes and questionable votes, but the best they've come up with so far is calling him a Muslim and unpatriotic troop-hater, one ad hominem after another.

Assassinate the senator responsible. Bomb a government building. Lead an armed uprising.

please dont suggest bombing buildings as a means of change. That is terrorism, not justice. Far more innocents would die than any guilty politician.

Someone needs to be **MUCH** more careful when quoting. I never suggested assassination, bombing, or uprisings -- gorillaman did, and I seriously despise people who try to put words into my mouth.

Besides, I agree with you -- Assassination will only make the Republican party stronger as the senator will become a martyr and the war against terror will become much more important, not to mention that it's a despicable act. Bombing a government building has roughly the same effect, except that it has the potential to take more lives and is even less politically relevant. I cannot think of a more useless endeavor than attempting an armed uprising against one of the best trained and most technologically advanced militaries in the world.

The NeoLiberals (what I call the polar opposite to the NeoCons) have a hidden agenda as well and it's not that far off from what the NeoCons are trying to attain. Not everything is black and white.

Who are these NeoLiberals, and what are they after?

The term neoliberal already has an established meaning, and it's the economic portion of the Republican/NeoCon philosophy.

The DLC wanted to move the party to the right, but never that far.

Yes, as you see. Republicans are pro morality. Indeed.
Think again.

Don't overgeneralize.. not all Republicans are bad.. just like not all Democrats are good.

The NeoCons and their supporters are not against using unethical tactics.

People, wake up. The democrats are just as much part of the problem as the repiblicans are. Your two-party bullshit is blurring your vision, seriously. Blame the republicans for making it happen and the democrats for letting it happen.

People love to say "it's both parties, really!"

Democrats aren't guiltless, but when one party uses deceit, and then later brute political force to enact a series of radical and destructive policies that turn a balanced budget, growing middle class, peace, and global respect into huge deficits, a vanishing middle class, endless war, and near universal scorn, we shouldn't say "well, they're both equally at fault."

There will be a lot of effort to unseat the Democrats who continue to acquiesce to unilateral war, or violations of civil rights, coming from the party activists.

There were no dissenting Republican senators, and a very few in the House. Many Republicans in both houses are unrepentant still, and proudly proclaim the wondrous success the last 8 years have been. Their party activists strongly encourage this, and curse McCain for what small moderation he's had in the past.

We do need to change the two party system, but given where we are today, throwing up your hands and saying "both parties suck" doesn't seem like a very sound strategy for making things better.

Seriously -- I'm from Chicago, so I hear nothing but incompetent bickering and political maneuvering for no other purpose than to screw other politicians over. The government that is supposed to serve the people has failed at EVERY LEVEL from the national right down to local affairs. Politicians at all levels have made a point to completely ignore the will of the people and to look out only for their own interests.

What am I supposed to do here? What PRECISELY will make any difference at all? Writing letters to government officials only works when they aren't completely overruled by overzealous executive branches and collusive agreements on both sides. I'm not rich, so I don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on corporate interests or lobbyists. I can't exactly call these people up and yell, and with our governments ignoring even the various voices of the media, protesting doesn't do a whit of good.

I'm irate and I'm completely out of ideas. I would love to hear some.
